Flutter: Chapter 7 (Part 2)
It's getting hot in here. Oh, will Nora, and Quinton always be at blows? Song: "King Of Anything." By Sara Bareilles.
The sound of a door slamming woke Nora from her deep slumber. She rolled over to her side, to see through bleary eyes a tall figure enter her bedroom.
"You do love to incite me, don't you?" Nora recognized the voice to be Quinton's.
"Whaa?" Nora said, her speech slurred, for she was not fully awake yet.
"Who, pray tell, allowed you to not attend dinner?" His deep voice chased away the peace.
"It is expected that all those who reside here attend dinner. You're obstinacy is growing very wearisome."
Nora had become more focused than, sat up, swung her legs over the side of her bed, and stood up to face Quinton.
"If you are going to be absent during dinner, you must come to me. Do not make Mary your messenger." He continued.
"Excuse me? I didn't want to eat dinner, and I didn't think that I had to run to you like some child! You are not my father, or mother, or anyone close to me, so even for a second don't think that you can just push me around."
"You shall watch your tone when you speak to me." Quinton said menacingly.
"I won't watch anything. I did nothing wrong by going to bed. You're just angry because you're a control freak, and I'm not standing for it anymore. If I want to take a break after being out all day then that's what I'll do!" Nora snapped.
"'Out all day?' What do you mean by that?" Quinton's countenance changing from one of anger to confusion.
Nora debated whether she should tell him the truth, remembering Mary's trepidations. However, she was groggy, and irritated, and wanted to push his buttons.
"I took the kids out today to the town. We had a marvelous day, and I was having a marvelous night until you came bursting in!"
"You left the premises without consulting me first?" Quinton seethed.
"I don't need to give a run down of everything I'm doing! Do you want me to tell you when I use the bathroom too?" Nora spat out.
"You are testing my limits, and I won't stand for it anymore. You are never, never, to leave this estate if you do not ask beforehand, do you understand me?" He said quietly. Nora began to feel uneasy, for the dark irises began to spread to the whites of his eyes.
"You can't treat me like this. I have rights -" She said, despite her worry.
"The rights you have are the rights I give you!" He barked at her-literally. He began to move forward as he spoke, making Nora trip over her own feet as she tired to get away from him.
"You should be grateful. You are fed, and clothed, and all I ask in return is for your cooperation, yet you continue to be problematic. I can make you obey me. Do not test my limits." He stared down at her, his eyes completely black now. The back of Nora's knees were against her bed now, and she trembled in fear, knowing full well that he could make good on his word.
"There are many enemies amongst our kind, and they would love to grab at a beta's mate-especially if they weren't able to defend themselves. Now were you not my mate, I would not care for a thing you do, but you shall not endanger my chances at having a son." He said through gritted teeth.
"Now, tomorrow the doctors are coming to assess you. Perhaps they can find a cure for your insolence." He sneered.
"I am not insolent! I'm sorry I don't take kindly to being insulted by jerks like you!" Nora said, her voice raised.
Quinton's hand came up immediately, gripped Nora's face in his hand, and stared her down. Nora raised her hands and pushed against his frame, but that was in vain, for standing over six feet, Quinton didn't even sway. He wrapped his free arm around the thrashing Nora, and pulled her closer to him.
"Let go of me!" Nora snarled..
Quinton said nothing for a moment, simply gazing into Nora's eyes as she tried to wrestle out of his hold.
"What a pretty little mouth you have." He said, dropping his gaze down to her lips.
"You know at first I thought there was nothing particularly attractive about you, but I may have found one thing." He continued to say. Nora felt his demeanor change from one of fury to one she didn't recognize, one that was worrisome. Her eyes opened wide, for Quinton's head began to come closer to her.
"Get away from me you creep!" Nora snapped, hoping that her heart wasn't pumping hard enough for him to hear.
Quinton cocked his head at her, surprised at her little outburst.
"Tsk. Tsk. Tsk." He shook his head, dark strands of his hair falling over his forehead. "I believe your mouth can be put too much better use."
Quinton moves forward towards his goal, and at the last moment Nora turned her head sharply so that his lips came in contact with her cheeks instead. His head reared back, and he growled in the back of his throat, roughly turning her head back in his direction, holding her head more firmly.
"What a thorn in my side." He murmured before plunging his head down, and crashing his lips over hers. Nora was shocked, but helpless. Quinton angled his head, and hers, pulling her even tighter against his body. Nora struggled, not wanting the kiss, but as she fought, a part of her seemed to become unraveled, and it made her struggle less, and less. Sensing her resistance failing, Quinton changed his tactic, and made the kiss less demanding, and more sensual. His hand released her face, and went to splay against her back. Nora knew that this was the time to break free of his hold, but she couldn't bring herself to, rather liking the feel of his silken lips on hers.
Quinton's hand began to roam, leaving her back, to travel the curve of her hip, pleased at her receptiveness. Deepened the kiss, Quinton elicited a soft whimper from Nora, who was overwhelmed by the various emotions running rampant in her body. Quinton smirked against her lips, brushing skin over skin, before moving his head away from hers.
Nora couldn't do much but look up at him, paralyzed momentarily. Quinton flicked his tongue across his lips, and Nora followed its movements.
"Now I do prefer it if your lips move like that." He said, his voice husky.
Nora looked up at him, large doe eyes showing uncertainty, confusion, and slight arousal.
"I should do that more often to keep you silent." He snickered. He backed away from her, and cleared his throat as he smoothed the wrinkles from his dress shirt.
"Why would you do that?" Nora said, her voice quaky, her chest still heaving up, and down.
"Why?" He said, running a hand through his hair, causing it to become disheveled.
"I may have acted a bit too rashly, but you mine to with what I wish." He said with finality.
Nora's was too much in a dizzy to be her normal feisty self, and simply stared at Quinton, her legs still rattling underneath her.
"Get some rest. You have a big day tomorrow." He said turning on his heel, and exiting her room, closing the door behind him.
Nora stood for moment, before her legs gave out. Luckily the bed was right behind her.
She brought her trembling hand up to her lips, pressing her fingertips against them softly.
'What just happened?' She wondered... not understanding how Quinton went from chewing to head off, to having his lips on hers. Nora wrapped her arms around herself, and shuddered slightly, her body still cooling down. Nora didn't understand what the surge of emotions she felt was. It left her body tingling in places that don't usually.
Now it's not like it was the first time she'd been kissed. She'd shared shy kisses behind Mr. Frigal's barn once with Jarrett Hughes before when she was fourteen, and light pecks with a boy who'd taken her to the fall festival once. Neither of those times had given her the sensations that Quinton had. Most of all, none of those times had ever left her craving for more.
Nora lay down on her bud, pulling the covers over herself, and curling up underneath them. Having no clue how things were going to play out from then on out, she closed her eyes, fingers over her lips.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
"Stupid. Stupid. Stupid." Quinton said to himself, emphasizing each word with a punch to his bedroom wall. The gray wall cracked, and chipped from the force of his hits. He stood back, and walked over to his armchair, plopping onto it.
'I can't believe I just kissed her, like an immature school boy.' He thought to himself, frustrated. He was never to have kissed her, for that was a romantic gesture, and he had no intentions to be romantically involved with her. What they had been simply a relationship of convenience. Somehow, this slipped his head, and he gave in to his randiness. Hopefully, Nora would take it the wrong way, and think that he had feeling's for her. That would lead to trouble.
Shaking his head, Quinton figured that he had been forsaking his sexual appetites for far too long. He hadn't invited Charlene over the estate for quite sometime, being swamped with work and all. Also, Quinton was hoping to keep Charlene, and Nora away from one another for as long as possible. It not that he cared about Nora's opinion about his dalliance, but worried about what Charlene's reaction would be once she heard about his mate. Charlene had been trying to become a permanent resident of Gillans for quite sometime, though Quinton hadn't given her any indication that her methods were working. If Quinton could describe Charlene in one word, it would be persistent. Now that wasn't a bad thing in the bedroom, but outside it, it proved annoying. Charlene was growing old for, and she was well aware of that, upping her ante lately.
Quinton figured that Charlene wasn't out of the ball park just yet, and he'd call her over to get his rocks off. He would call it quits soon thereafter. After having a taste of Nora's lips, there was no way Charlene could match up, Quinton groaned, the memory still causing him to get a little heated. Quinton had to hand it to her. Who knew the lanky little spitfire could be so curvaceous? Underneath those billowing dresses she wore, lie the body of a woman. Mating with Nora was looking a little bit more tempting than before.

Okay, so some other writer here with my title. So like I don't want to sound childish, but I was pretty happy when I came up with the title, "Flutter," and for someone else to take it. Eeek. Bothersome. But I suppose I don't have a license to all the words in the English dictionary but I wanted to be one of a kind.
Anyway, so that make out scene with Quinton was totally a spur of the moment decision. I decided to jazz it up a lil bit. What do y'all think?
Until next time.
