Florida Poker
The good and bad of Florida Poker.
Florida Poker has come a long way in the past two years. I can still remember when the only choice for no limit poker was the $45 tournaments at the local pari-mutuels. As of July 1st, 2007, no limit poker became a reality in Florida, but not without it’s own downfalls.
For one, the casino’s are able to spread the variety of different blind games, such as $1-$2, $2-$5, and $5-$10 blinds, but the buy in for each game is capped at $100. Now even if you haven’t participated in the bingo style $5-$10 no limit poker games at the local Florida Casinos, you can imagine the difficulty in trying to make pocket nines fold to your pocket aces with only $100 in front of you, when your opponent has been playing all day, and has amassed a stack of over two thousand dollars! But, still they come down to play, night after night, making excuses to their loved ones, unable to avoid the excitement and love for the game.
Fortunately, there is hope on the horizon for Florida Poker. Beginning on July 1st of 2009, it is rumored that the buy ins will increase. Of course now, that people are used to the $100 buy-in, and the tactics of the short stack cash game, our government has allowed the buy ins to increase to one hundred times the big blind (that’s $500 on a 2-5 game). Get ready for a wild ride, and the opportunity to make some crazy money here, if you are fortunate enough to have some experience playing a deep stack strategy. To discuss the best places to make money playing poker in Florida, I welcome your thoughts and discussions on my blog.
