Float Towards The Light
An anguished love poem of deep and solemn loss.
Sitting alone in my armchair,
I reminisce my ancient past,
A memory is rekindled,
But it's flame's extinguished fast.
A fleeting glimpse of long ago,
Of a happiness that I once felt,
A vision of your face,
But that vision quickly melts.
It evaporates with my own tears,
To lose itself in sorrow's gloom,
Eloping with the shadows,
As the darkness fills my room.
A coldness envelopes my heart,
And a sadness fills my mind,
With the melancholy thoughts,
That plague me all the time.
You've been so far away,
It's so hard to count the miles,
Of the separating vastness,
My wilderness compiles.
I cry your name into the wind,
In the hope that you can hear me,
My pleas fall on deaf ears,
All my hopes are but a dream.
I fill another whisky glass,
And swallow all the pills down,
I close my eyes to sleep,
To allow Death to close my account.
A saintly angel welcomes me,
With open arms, she softly sighs,
As my heart gives up the ghost,
And I float towards the light.
I reminisce my ancient past,
A memory is rekindled,
But it's flame's extinguished fast.
A fleeting glimpse of long ago,
Of a happiness that I once felt,
A vision of your face,
But that vision quickly melts.
It evaporates with my own tears,
To lose itself in sorrow's gloom,
Eloping with the shadows,
As the darkness fills my room.
A coldness envelopes my heart,
And a sadness fills my mind,
With the melancholy thoughts,
That plague me all the time.
You've been so far away,
