Flight 42 Hijacked!
A hostage crisis. Tell me what do you think.
>>Local Domestic Airport, Philippines
Flight 42 Cebu to Manila, Flight 42 Cebu to Manila, please proceed to Gate 9. Once again ladies and gentlemen, Flight 42 Cebu to Manila, Flight Cebu to Manila, please proceed to Gate 9.
A man leaned to a wall with his luggage beside him and he was smoking. He had fading brown, clean cut hair, much like from an army. He was tall and brown, wearing faded jeans, a light brown jacket and black leather shoes. He puffed one last smoke and stuck the butt to the ashtray and proceeded to Gate 9. He bought a few snacks from the establishments nearby and boarded the plane. He walked the bridge that connects the gate to the aircraft. He presented his boarding pass one last time to the stewardesses and sat near the window. It was night, he saw the well-lit gate and other airplanes refueling or having them to be cleaned.
The aircraft was simple; it had a bathroom near the tail and a small kitchen near the cockpit. The chair was created with a table and nothing else. There are two exits, one near the cockpit and the other is on the tail. The seating was six in one row, three in two columns and 20 rows all in all. It had windows, of course. In flight entertainment was provided by the cabin crew.
"Good evening ladies and gentlemen, we’re on board Flight 42 Cebu to Manila," said the head stewardess, "I’m Michelle, head of the cabin crew with Josie at my side, John and Jackie there on the tail." Some heads turned to the other end, "In the cockpit are Captain Rico Rosales and Cadet Max Santos…"
The man never listened to the stewardess anymore, he was thinking heavily while staring at what’s outside the window. But he did listen to the crew, the exit points and only there. Then a wide grin formed on his face, all was going according to plan.
"This is Captain Rosales, we’ve just received clearance from the control tower, cabin crew prepare for take-off." said the captain. The plane was on the runway.
This is it. Thought the man, the seat belt sign was lit; he stepped out from his seat and proceeded to the cockpit.
"I’m sorry sir, please remain seated." reprimanded Michelle.
"Miss," said the man, "I’m here to see the captain."
"Please be seated." she repeated.
"I thought so," he smiled and pulled something which was ought to be a gun.
"Please escort me to the captain."
Michelle was calm and retained composure; the passengers were shocked of what this man did. Josie tried to reach a phone above her but her wrist was shot. The passengers gasped, a child went crying.
"Please escort me to the captain." The man repeated.
"No." She replied, and she was shot in the head.
A male passenger tried to suppress the man while seated; the man used his gun’s butt to jab into the passenger’s throat. The male passenger died, and a woman who appears to be his wife and their little kid cried for their loss.
The man never felt remorse, nor pity. A woman named Jackie left John in the tail of the plane bleeding to die, while two other men barked orders to be quiet and stay put. He then walked to Josie, who was resisting screaming of her injured wrist. The man pointed the gun’s tip to her head.
"Please guide me to the captains; I’d like to have a word with them."
Without the slightest doubt she knocked to the door. The door opened and the man instantly killed the pilots in the head. He looked to Josie, "Thank you," he said and killed her too.
>>Control Room
"Flight 42, you’re clear for take-off." Said the operator.
No response.
"Flight 42, you’re clear for take-off." he repeated, "Flight 42, come in?"
"Your captain’s dead." came in the reply. He signaled his supervisor and wired the headphone to hear what he was listening to.
"We have taken Flight 42," continued the man, "We have 65 hostages and three of your cabin crew. Five are dead and many more will come if you don’t answer my demands. I want twenty million dollars in cash, a helicopter and assurance of no media and police coverage. If you do contact the police, expect lives to be lost. You’ve got… thirty minutes."
The control tower supervisor immediately notified authorities.
>>15 Minutes Later…
Chief Inspector Richard Dizon and Senior Inspector Robin Marquez were assigned to the crisis. Dizon has solved many cases of terrorism and worked as a negotiator in the wars of the south while Marquez served as a staff sergeant in the army, honorably discharged and served the police. On the way to the airport on a helicopter, they listened to the man’s demand. Darren Weaver was the mastermind and led a group of four to hijack a plane. Weaver led successful heists of robbery before graduating to hostage crisis.
Dizon ordered marksmen to be in spots to cover the whole plane, he then ordered the supervisor to maintain communication with Weaver. Both officers arrived at the control tower.
"Officers, I tried to maintain contact with Weaver but I lost him." said the supervisor.
"Did you record the whole conversation with Weaver?" asked Marquez.
"Yes," said the supervisor, he handed a Walkman that contained a taped conversation. Dizon listened while they were dashing to the operating tent five hundred meters away from the plane. There were two Senior Police officers waiting for the inspectors. Dizon wasn’t done while Marquez had a word to the officers In duty.
"What do we got so far?"
"Sir," said SP04 Martinez, "Five confirmed dead, passengers are safe for a short time."
Dizon finished listening to the tape. He formed a huddle with the three officers, "Alright, five confirmed dead, am I right?"
"Yep," said Captain Kap, squad leader of the marksmen, "I’ve got three guys keeping an eye on the plane. Our targets are three men and a woman dressed in a stewardess suit. Weaver is in the cockpit, the other two are on the cabins barking orders at the passengers. It is confirmed that Weaver possesses a gun, the woman and the other two possess kitchen knives."
"And they got a bomb strapped to a teenage girl near row three." Dizon added, he gazed at his watch and they got ten minutes left."How do get in?"
"Well," said SP04 Martinez, We could use the cargo bay to board; we end up in the bathroom near the tail."
"Could we use smoke grenades?" asked Marquez.
"Yes, but the plane is too small. We could do it if the hostages are on the tail, we could storm in row 12 and suppress the threats there." replied Kap.
"Alright, we cannot negotiate with his terms. Officer Martinez, I’d like you to kill all the power from that plane, understand?" ordered Dizon.
"Yes sir!"
"And Kap, do you have S.W.A.T. nearby?"
"I do."
"Assemble a squad, we’re engaging a threat."
>>Plane, 10 Minutes to Go.
They’re taking too slow. Thought Darren, who had eyes on the tent. He was approached by Jack, an accomplice.
"Darren, we’ve packed the hostages in the back and strapped the bomb to a girl."
"Alright," he adjusted his binoculars, let the girl kneel on row 16 and point a gun to her head. Fire in the next five minutes and let Jackie and Royce join with you."
Jack left, did what he was told. Seconds later, three windows were broken. Then the plane went dark, he traced the bomb girl and dragged her to the cockpit. He pointed a gun to her head at all times. She was crying, Darren didn’t even care. He radioed the tower, "You think… I would sacrifice the lives of my men?" and he pulled the trigger of his gun.
>>Outside, 10 Minutes To Go.
Dizon, Marquez, Kap and two agents were on a helicopter to storm the plane from above. They were ready to engage the enemy until…
"Sir, I’ve got movement here…" said a marksman through the radio, Marquez, Dizon and Kap heard it through their earpieces which were in sync from the marksmen and the control tower.
"Fire when it is a threat." Dizon ordered.
Three shots went through, "Do you think… I would sacrifice the lives of my men?"I Darren said to the tower, Dizon heard a scream and a gunshot. Marquez and Kap heard enough, they stormed the plane. He ordered SP04 Martinez to trigger the power kill.
"Men! Move out!" They dropped down to the chopper; Kap blasted a portion of the roof using a grenade followed with a smoke grenade. Dizon immediately dashed to the cockpit and froze.
"Shoot and she will die." Said Darren, who had a gun pointed to her head and a bomb strapped to her chest; it read 00:00:45.
A bullet flew through Dizon’s shoulder and it went pass Darren’s head. The girl dropped and Dizon removed the panel of the bomb and found three wires, red, black and blue. He pulled a knife and relaxed.
