Flickering Light

The light that rests inside the darkness,
The one that never seems to stay,
Shows you only what you fear to see,
And than is gone to haunt somebody else’s day.
The bittersweet taste of its embrace,
Give you a feel of false security,
But for some odd reason,
This feeling is always secretly alluring.
It feeds on your dreams,
Just to rip out your hopes,
And when it is done,
You are wondering how you ever seemed to cope.
It’s a game of pretend,
With only one key objection,
To ruin the lives of others,
Because who can love if they feel no protection?
