Flicker of Hope Chapter 10 Part 2

"I don’t understand. Why did you have to do this?" I asked.

"To make you guys together," John replied calmly.

"Why lying to us? Wasn’t there some other way if you wanted this so badly?" Tanner asked.

"I didn’t really lie to you. The doctors did say that I don’t have much time left. You were leaving, and going back to your own life, and I had to do this before you left." John didn’t seem so calm; he was starting to look tensed. Good, he should feel guilty.

"If we were meant to be together, we would have, you didn’t have to do any of this!" I blurted. I was mad. Of course, I had right to be mad. The biggest decision of my life was taken by someone else, and Tanner will probably never like me now.

"You two are meant to be. I can see the way you look at each other. If you didn’t have feelings for one another, you wouldn’t be looking at each other like that. You guys probably would have seen each other some where along the way, but I wanted to see you guys together before my time was up. The two of you might not be here when my time is up, and I had to do this." His eyes begged for understanding. His words did make sense, but…….

"So, what now?" I asked. Both of the men looked at me. I just raised my eye brow. Inside, I was just dying to know what we were supposed to do, but I couldn’t let that show.

"She is right, what are we supposed to do now?"

Understanding flickered in his expression. "You guys are welcome to stay here as long as you want, but I am pretty sure that is not what either of you wants. You both had a separate life, but now, you need to combine them. You guys are married."

"B-but….."

Tanner looked at me, and said. "She probably doesn’t want to live with me. She has her own life, and my life is different."

"Actually, it’s probably just the opposite. Why would he want to be with me? His perfect life probably doesn’t have a place for me to live in." Since he was looking into my eyes, I stared right back into them. I couldn’t help but notice how good his eyes actually were. They were killer eyes. Just a look into those eyes would make anyone captive, and I was finding myself captive by those amazingly beautiful eyes.

John chuckled. "Why are you going making it so complicated? Will you guys do as I tell you?"

I was still looking at Tanner, not because he was looking at me, but because I just couldn’t take my eyes off him.

"Okay," we answered in union. I saw a smile forming in Tanner’s lips, though I wasn’t sure why.
