Fleas in House
We adore our pets and put up with so many challenges that owning a pet can bring, that too with a big smile on our face. One of the many challenges are fleas, so read ahead to find out how to get rid of fleas in the house.

Removing Fleas from House
I have three dogs at home and trust me, I can understand how serious a problem of fleas in the house can get. We had a monsoon once when our walls were literally taken over by fleas and ticks. Don't ask about my dogs. We had no choice but to wage a war to reclaim our walls. This is what we did for getting rid of fleas in the house.
Treat the House
Take this opportunity to spring clean the house. Get the vacuum cleaner out and vacuum the entire house. Pay special attention to the nooks and corners. Fleas are most likely to hide in the creases of the sofas, in the carpets and other blind spots. Take some inspiration from Bree of the desperate housewives. Once you are done vacuuming to get rid of fleas, get your hands on some flea bombs or foggers. You can place them in the center of the house and let the magic work. Its best to return to the house after the designated time limit and then, get on with the washing or dry cleaning of blinds, curtain and sheets. Now that you have the house spic and span, get to work on your pet next.
Treat the Pet
To get rid of fleas in the house, you have to get your hands dirty. The first thing that you need to do is remove all ticks and fleas manually from your pet. By manually, I mean pick them off, most pet owners are pretty comfortable with it but if you are new to owning a pet, it's time to get used to it. Next, bathe the pet properly, use anti tick shampoos and combs to comb out the little suckers! After you are done, it is best to make your pet wear a flea collar and you could try spot on treatment. The drops of the medicine are placed on the pet's neck to the tail bone and all along the spine. This should keep the pet flea free.
Treat the Yard
Remember to treat the yard also as the fleas can flee to the garden and invade your house again. You can spray the yard with the same spray that you used indoors. Hopefully after all this trouble, you will manage to reclaim your house from the uninvited guests.
Fleas and You
The reason for flea infestation in the home is not the pet always. You too can get fleas in the house from a park or a garden. The main reason for fleas in houses with no pets is, of course, us humans. If you are itchy after cleaning the house, chances are that you have been bitten by fleas. So immediately take a hot shower and scrub well and put on fresh clothes and wash the old ones separately. The first thing to remember is that the entire treatment to get rid of fleas must happen in one go. You know fleas jump from one place to another, so if you clean the house and not the dog, within a night they will be all over the place.
This is how we managed to retain our ownership over the house, hopefully you too will be able to get rid of fleas, with not much but a little trouble. But hey, what's a few itchy bites compared to walls crawling with fleas?
