Flat Iron Steak with Chili Rub

Ingredients

2 flat iron steaks, 1 pound each
2 tbsp onion, minced
2½ tsp chili powder
3 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp dried oregano, crushed
1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
3 cloves garlic, minced
¼ tsp black pepper
1 tsp salt

Preparation

First, season the steaks with salt in a shallow baking dish. Combine together the minced onion, minced garlic, minced cloves, chili powder, balsamic vinegar, olive oil, dried oregano, black pepper and salt. Pour this mixture over the steaks and cover them with a plastic wrap. Allow them to stand for about 10 minutes at room temperature.

Preheat the grill at medium high heat. Remove marinated steaks from the dish and place them on the grill. Reserve some amount of marinade. Let the steaks cook for about 10-15 minutes. Pour the remaining of marinade over the steaks during the cooking process. Remove the steaks from heat, when desired doneness is achieved.

Flat Iron Steak with Rosemary and Red Wine

Ingredients

2 flat iron steaks, 1 lb each
2 garlic cloves, mashed
¼ cup of dry red wine
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp fresh rosemary, chopped
½ tsp dry mustard
1 tsp parsley, chopped
¼ tsp black pepper
1 tsp salt

Preparation

Combine together garlic, mustard, parsley, olive oil, red wine, rosemary, black pepper and salt. Mix it well. In a shallow baking dish, season the flat iron steaks with salt. Coat the steaks with a marinade mixture and cover with a plastic wrap. Allow the steaks to marinate in the refrigerator at least for one hour. You can also marinate the steaks overnight.

Preheat the grill over medium heat. Place the steaks onto the grill and allow them to cook for about 5-7 minutes each side. When desired doneness is obtained, remove the steaks from the heat.

Roasted Garlic Flat Iron Steak

Ingredients

4 flat iron steaks
15 cloves garlic
½ cup olive oil
1 tbsp olive oil
Ground black pepper
Salt

Preparation

Preheat the oven to 350 degree F. On a baking sheet, sprinkle 1 tablespoon of olive oil over garlic cloves. Bake garlic in preheated oven for about 15-50 minutes, until golden brown. Keep stirring in between in order to prevent burning. Remove garlic from the oven and allow it to cool.

Combine together baked garlic and ½ cup of olive oil and blend this mixture in a food processor, until a fine paste is obtained. First, season the steaks with pepper and salt and then rub the garlic paste on both sides of the steak.

Cook the steaks in a large skillet over medium heat for about 5 minutes on each side. Remove from heat, when desired doneness is obtained.
