Fixing and Repairing an Old, Worn Out and Sagging Mattress

I discuss two ways to fix a mattress as opposed to simply buying a new one.
Have an older mattress that has seen better days and lost much of its comfort level? If so, you do have a couple of options instead of buying a new mattress, which would likely cost you hundreds or even thousands of dollars.

One option is the Mattress Medic. It is designed to fix and revitalize an older mattress. It can work for any size or type of mattress, including twin, full, queen and king sized. The product works by utilizing a multi-chamber air support system. This means that air flow beneath a mattress can be customized to support precisely as needed.

Setting up the product requires patience to adjust it to suit the wear / sagging pattern of your mattress. For example, you'll probably have to literally sleep on it to determine which areas of your bed need more or less support from the product.

At least some owners say that the product works well. A few others say that while the Mattress Medic can have a big difference in the appearance of the bed in terms of leveling it out, the actual result when lying on the mattress is less dramatic.

At any rate, if your mattress is in really bad shape, don't expect miracles from the Mattress Medic.

Another alternative is to get a mattress topper, especially one made of memory foam. About eight out of ten owners of memory foam mattress toppers / pads are satisfied with them. The toppers can help even out a mattress (assuming the mattress is not too warped) and improve comfort, sometimes dramatically.

Downsides, according to some owners, include off gassing and sleeping hot. Off gassing is an odor that the memory foam can sometimes temporarily give off when it is new. Most people do not like the smell. Sleeping hot occurs as a result of the foam absorbing the sleepers body heat and not releasing it, resulting in a heat trap.
