Fire 2

Morning before first day of school.
"Boo" shouted Darren. Waking me up from my deep slumber.
"Uh..." I moan, opening my eyes and flinging a pillow at Darren's head. "Go get lost!" I shouted, pulling my duvet over my head as Darren opened the curtains leaving the light flood in.
"Ah the light it burns!!" I say!
"Come on! Wake up! You don't want to miss you're first day of school do you?"
"I'd gladly miss it!"
"Don't be so silly! Now get up!"

"FINE!" I shouted, swinging my legs off the side of my bed. "Now get out off my room so I can get changed into my ugly green uniform!"
This was the day I had been dreading. Starting school. I had spent the whole summer with the Johnson's, after my parents had died in a fire. The triplets James, Darren and Eric were really nice, and welcomed me in to their house. I didn't see much of their dad though; he was always away on business. I quickly got changed into my uniform and grabbed my new bag, heavy with school books, then ran down towards the kitchen.

"Sup," I say to the boys, grabbing the toast that just popped from the toaster.
"Hey that was mine!" said Eric.
"Build a bridge and..."
"Jump off of it!!!" laughed Darren. I sat down beside James.
"What you reading?" I asked. Taking the book that James held out to me. "I've already read that one." I won't ruin it on you though" I grinned. Under the table James held my hand. We hadn't told anyone that we were going out yet, and it was totally a secret.
How this happened you asked? How I ended up with the quiet and shy one? Well I'll tell you.

It was a lovely day in summer and James and I were left alone in the huge house. Eric was playing a football match with the local football team and Darren had gone to the cinema with some friends.
I was really bored, so I made my way to James' bedroom and knocked on the door.
"Come in," and entered James' impossibly neat and tidy room. He was at his desk, writing something.
"I know you're like allergic to the sun and everything but were going outside!" I said smiling.
"I'm not allergic to the sun!" said James, getting up from his chair to look at me.

"Well it certainly seems that way!!" I exclaim, "Now get a bag and put swimming suit in it and meet me down in the kitchen.
I go down to the kitchen and make picnic and place it into my bag, I already had my swimming suit on under my clothes.
"So we're going to the pool?" James asks as he enters the kitchen.
"No," I said, "were going for a walk! I'm not going to answer any more questions now!"
"Fine!" he replies, "but we better not get lost!"
"We won't! come on!!" I say leading him out the door and towards the fields behind the back garden.

After walking through the fields for about ten minutes we reach the small forest, that I was looking for.
"Are you sure you know where you're going?" asks James nervously
"Of course I do!" I reply, entering the forest.
Inside it was beautiful, it was alive with the movement of birds and animals.
Finally we reached the opening at the end of the forest.
"It's beautiful" said James as the large silent lake came into view.
"I know," I reply.
"Is this where we're going to swim?
"Yeah, it's safe, I've done it before."
"With whom?"

"Darren"
"I should have known, he really likes you!"
"Uh yeah" I say embarrassedly, "um you can go get changed behind a tree or something."
"Okay dokey!" he said walking back towards the forest.
I quickly strip off my clothes revealing my pink tankini when he leaves. Then I put all the food safely under a shaded tree away from the sun.
"I'm ready," said James comes out of the forest. I never noticed how fit he was before, I just stood gawping at him, while he did the same to me.
"Well," I said, breaking the silence, " Are we going to swim or what?" I turn and go to the edge of the lake where the water was deepest, then I dive. I could hear the splash of James coming in after me as I come up for air.

"So, was this a good idea or was this a good idea?" I ask.
"It was a good idea!" he grinned. We glided around the water for ages, not saying anything. I realize that we were very comfortable together, so comfortable that with didn't have to say anything .
Soon I was getting tired of swimming and decide to get out.
"Hey! Where are you going?" says James, as I get up out of the water. He swims to the edge and hold out his hand to me. I take it and he pulls me back into the water.
"I wanted to get out!" I exclaim, trying to get away from him.
"I've decided I quite like the outside." He pulls me up against him and twists his arms around my waist.

"So you're going to trap me out here?" I ask smiling. I put my arms around his neck.
"I think it's a good idea!" he says holding me tighter.
"You know what?" I ask, "Me too!" I rest me head my head on his shoulder as we stand waist deep in water.
"Claire," James whispers after a couple of minutes, "I think I've loved you, ever since the first time I saw you!" he looked down all embarrassedly.
"I think that's called love at first sight," I giggled, " glad I'm not the only sad person who thinks she's loved you since the day she saw you!"
Then our lips meet and it feels so magical, so right.

"Hey stop day dreaming and come on!" says a voice in my ear.
"Wah" I say, waking up from my flashback. Darren was leaning on my chair, shouting in my ear.
"Earth to Claire!"
"I'm awake, I'm awake! I reply, looking around the kitchen. Eric was just leaving the room. Come on I say, grabbing my bag and following!
