Fire and Wind

Hey! This is just something I wrote while in the car. I hate driving so my sister drove! Enjoy!
I kept my face emotionless as my mother explained why my toes and hands turned red at will. "You are a very special girl, Claire,'' my mother began and I rolled my eyes. "Mother, please. Tell me what defect I have," my emotionless expression turned to one of disgust and my hands burned a bright red. '' Now,Now. Let me tell you the way I want to tell you," she waved a finger back and forth. The finger got on my nerves so I grabbed it to stop if from moving. My mother yelped in pain and yanked her finger from my grasp. My eyes widened with shock, and horror. I looked at my mother's burnt finger and then looked at my hands disgusted with them. "Mom! I'm so sorry," I begged for forgiveness and she just patted my head. "I guess you just found out your gift," my mother half-smiled at me. I couldn't bear it anymore. I fled the room, a look of horror on my face. I was the one thing that I hoped I would never met. The fourth and final Power. Fire.

Ch.1)
My mother begged me to go to the King and tell him that I was Fire, but I bluntly refused. "The world needs the Power four! What are they going to do without you? Please Claire," my mother begged but I just shook my head. "They don't need me. They already have Water,Wind, and Earth. Fire is useless," I repeated the same sentence I always did when she begged for me to go to the King. ''Besides Mother. I practice everyday with my defect, to help keep them in check and to see the extend of them," I waved my mother off and headed into the bathroom. I scowled at my appearance. I had red curls, and freckles that dotted around my nose. My blue eyes looked odd against my red hair, and I didn't have curves. Don't get me wrong, I had a very toned stomach but nothing else. "Mother! I'm going out to practice!" I yelled from the bathroom and headed out the house. I walked in the little stream that always calmed my nerves and watched my hands go red.

Flames licked the edge of my fingers and I cast them into the water. The tips of my hair were on fire, and my blue eyes went red. Thoughts of the other three powers bombarded my head putting me in a foul mood. My whole hand went up in flames and I stared at a piece of grass on the ground. I imagined flames killing the blade of grass and watched as it burst into flames. Immediately I felt bad for killing something, even if it was a piece of grass, and I cooled down. The wind started to pick up and water started raining down. I ran home and shut the door to wait out the sudden storm. My mother sat in the living room staring out the window. "Mom? You okay?" I asked concerned. "Forgive me. This is for the best," she shifted on the couch to look at me as the door slammed open. "Mom? What is going on?!" my voice raised an octave as three men walked in. "I waited five years for you to tell the King, but you never did. Sweetie, your twenty years old! It's time you stop playing and face reality, " my mother whispered and I backed up against the wall for support.

She had called the King and told him I was Fire. Tears pooled in my eyes and spilled down my cheeks. "How could you? I trusted you?!"I yelled at my mother and turned to face the three men standing at in the living room. "You can't make me go with you," I spit out at them and my hands and hair flamed. My eyes went red, but tears continued spilling down my cheeks. The tall, skinny, blonde haired guy's hands and hair turned blue.He was water. The short, pudgy, blacked hair man's hands and hair turned green. He was Earth. The tall, muscular, brown haired guy's hands and hair didn't turn a color. He was wind. Water sprayed at me soaking my flames. They flared back as soon as the water passed. "What was that for?" Wind asked Water. "Hey! If I get flammed then it's going to take longer for me to heal!" Water shouted at Wind. "You could have just asked me to pull her in," Wind rolled his brown eyes. Air swirled around my and pulled me toward the three men. "Claire. Be good," my mother said loud enough for me to hear. My flames died and I stood defeated.

Ch.2)
"Cheer up! It's not so bad saving the world from evil villains," Earth teased me cheerfully. My pained expression didn't change. "Shut-up Earth," I snapped at him and he gave me a said look. "I'm Dylan," he whispered and I immediately felt bad. "I'm Gordon," Water said from the backseat of the car. "And I am Jake," Wind said while turning into a gas station. "I'm-," I began to speak. "Claire, we all know your name," Jake glared at me. ''Don't mind him. He is just mad that you kept your identity hidden for so long. Five years to be exact!" Dylan grinned at me. I couldn't help but smile at the adorable man sitting next to me. "Jake is the oldest of us, he is 23. I am 22, and Dylan is 21," Gordon whispered in my ear as Jake slid back in the car. Night started to fall over the town we were driving through and my eyes drooped.

Dylan was sleeping with his head against the window, and Gordan was slumped over in the back seat. I yawned and rubbed my face with my hands. "Go to sleep. We have a long day tomorrow," Jake broke the silence that had settled in the car. "I'm not that tired," I lied and a smile tugged at his lips. "Liar," he whispered and I sighed in annoyance. "Well," I pursed my lips, "if you want me to go to sleep then be quiet." He looked at me for the briefest of seconds, and then pulled over into a motel parking lot. "Wake the others up. I don't feel like driving," he said and got out of the car. I watched him walk into the building and shook Dylan. "Huh?" he opened one eye to look at me. "Wake up. Jake decided that he doesn't want to drive anymore so we are staying at a motel," I explained to him and he stifled a yawn.

Next I woke up Gordon who acted the same as Dylan. Jake came out seconds later and pulled out luggage from the back of the car. I recognized my suitcase and anger welled up inside me. I should have been grateful that my mother would pack a suitcase for me, but instead I was furious. Jake lifted the suitcases and then used his powers to hold them up in the air instead of carry them. "You look like you're about to murder someone," Dylan whispered to me and I shot him a look that could kill. He backed off and we entered the room. ''Are we all staying in one room?" I asked as Jake brought my suitcase in the room. "No. We have two separate rooms," he said and flopped down another suitcase too. Dylan said goodnight and left with Gordon following suit. I raised an eyebrow at the one bed but didn't bother to ask Jake why there was only one bed. Obviously he was going to sleep on the ground and I was getting the bed.

Ch.3)
Once I had taken a shower, washed my face, brushed my hair, pulled it back in a pony tail, brushed my teeth, and changed into my nighttime clothes I jumped on the big bed. "Night," I called out to Jake who was taking a shower. I snuggled in the blankets and feigned being asleep. I had put my suitcase by the door and was planning on running away in the middle of the night. I felt the bed move beside me and my eyes shot open. "What are you doing?" I asked Jake as he settled himself on the bed. "Going to bed," he looked at me like I was dumb. "No. You are not sleeping on the same bed as I am," I tilted my chin up a little and he laughed. "Yes, I am sleeping with you," he chuckled and closed his eyes. "You,'' I said and pointed to him," are sleeping down there." I pointed to the ground and threw his pillow on the ground. "All you need is a blanket," I grinned as he stole the blanket and glared at me. ''Fine,'' he huffed and settled himself on the ground. "Night," I called to him one last time and settled in the bed.

I left my eyes wide open and listened to his breathing. It took about a half hour before his breathing slowed. I waited another half hour and then silently crept off the bed. I peeked at the clock, midnight. I managed to get to my suitcase and had the car keys in my hand when the lights flew on. Jake stood in the middle of the room with his hand out. He had used his power to control the air to flick the lights on. "Where , exactly, do you think you are going?" he asked his voice a mixture of amusement and ice. "To the front office to ask for another room," I lied. "In the middle of the night?" he asked and closed the gap between us. "I am sleeping on the bed with you to make sure you don't try to escape again," he said between clenched teeth and picked my up bridal style. He laid me on the bed and scooted in next to me. "Who said I was trying to run away?" I asked defensily. "I'm not stupid, Fire," he hissed in my ear and put an arm around my waist.

He dragged me across the bed until I reached his chest. He slug his leg on top of mine and I knew I was trapped. "Is this all necessary?" I asked annoyed. "Yes it is. Plus, I'm a top legger anyway," his voice was right in my ear. I shivered and his arm tightened around me. I didn't bother saying goodnight and tried to focus on sleep. I already lost about an hour of sleep because I wanted to run away. I knew I wasn't getting away this time, not when Jake was practically laying on top of me. Plus, I didn't mind being snuggled up to his chest. I tried to turn around so my face was against his chest but his arms tightened. "I'm trying to turn around," I shot at him and his grip loosened. I turned around and let my hair fall as a curtain shielding my face from his searching eyes. I snuggled up closer to his chest and let sleep overtake me. After all I wasn't in that bad of a situation right now, snuggled up against a hot guy's chest.

Ch.4)
I woke and at two in the morning and glanced at Jake. He was fast asleep. I carefully removed his arm from around my waist and slid from under his leg. He groaned and I froze in my step. Was he waking up? I ignored the panic that flooded through me and tip-toed to the door. I left my suitcase where it was, I didn't need it, and it caused so much noise. I left the car keys where they were, and slipped out the door. I headed to the forest that the motel backed up to, and sighed in relief as the trees engulfed me whole. I lit my hands up for light and wandered the forest for a while. I found a rock that jutted out of the edge of a cliff. I sat down on it not caring if I fell off the rock to my death. What did I have to live for? Being a part of the Powers sucked, and I was eventually going to run away. I just didn't have the energy to walk around, knowing that they would eventually find me. A few tears escaped and I cursed them for showing how vulnerable I really was. "Claire?" Jake's voice broke my thoughts.

I looked up to see him floating in the air his hands pointed down. He looked at the me, and his face turned to fear. He looked at my feet that dangled off the rock, and if I moved one more inch I would fall. He pointed a finger at me and I lifted up in the air. "What the hell are you doing? Suicide?" Anger took over his fearful expression. It was just then that I realized it looked like I was about to fall, on purpose, to my death. What a pityful way to die. "I wasn't about to commit suicide! I just don't care if I die," I yelled at him fresh tears springing in my eyes. He lowered me to the ground, away from the cliff, and came down himself. "You can't just leave us, the Power I mean. We need you," his words were gently and just what I didn't want to hear. "You don't need me. You have done fine without me for the past five years, why would you suddenly need me now?" I asked my anger melting. Instead of saying another word he wrapped me in a comforting hug.

I ripped myself from his grip and light my hands on fire. I pointed it at a blade of grass and the fire shot from my finger to the grass. "This defect that I have. It kills," I whispered harshly and stomped out the grass that was on fire before it spread any farther. "Not if you use it for good. Right now you chose to kill instead of give life," he shouted after me as I walked back to the motel. I didn't need to hide anymore. I was tried of hiding from my life sucking gift. I would face the King and explain to him that my defect was indeed a life killing defect, not a gift, and that the Powers did not need me. Once I was done with that I would never use my defect again unless absolutely necessary. I wanted a normal life, and I was going to have a normal life. But why were Jake's words haunting my head, repeating themselves over and over? Not if you use it for good. Right now you chose to kill instead of give life.

Ch.5)
Gordon and Dylan were leaning against the car when I made it to the motel. "Hey! Ready to hit the road?" Dylan said cheerfully. I just nodded my head, more in acknowledgment that agreement, and slid in the car. I was sitting in the back so Gordon, Dylan, and Jake sat in the front. I didn't want to be by Jake, his words still haunted me. It was Gordon's turn to drive so I was directly behind Jake. I glared at the back of his head, and Dylan noticed. "You two have a fight?" he asked me laughing when I turned my glare on him. "None of your business," I said at the same time Jake said, "Why would you think that?" So it ended up sounding as a big jumbled mess.

Dylan laughed and Jake turned around to look at me. I closed my eyes and rubbed my face with my hands. "You okay?" Gordon asked shooting me a nervous look through the mirror. "Yeah. I slept horrible last night," I gave him a half-smile and he turned his attention to driving. "Well, I could have guessed that. Considering you tried to escape once and you sneaked out to go almost kill yourself," Jake scoffed and I hit him, hard, on the back of the head. "So your suicidal," Gordon's expression turned grim and I sighed a heavy sigh. "I am NOT suicidal. Jake is just over-exaggerating what really happened," I explained giving a lethal look at Jake daring him to open his mouth one more time. The car went quiet and I closed my eyes. I slumped against the back of Jake's seat and folded my hands on my laps. I let my red, long hair fall in my face, and drifted off to much-needed sleep.
****
Arms wrapped around my waist and I was lifted off seat. I groaned and snuggled my head into something warm. I felt a gently breeze run along my face and arms tighten around me. I was warm, and content for a moment. The arms that held me tightly loosened and they dropped me. My eyes flew open as I hit a bed. Gordon looked down at me with a weird expression on his face. "Gordon?" the word flew out of my mouth as a question and he fled the room. Jake came thundering and slammed the door shut. "What did you do to Gordon?" he asked crossing the room so he towered over me. "Gordon? I didn't do anything to Gordon. He carried me here and dropped me on the bed. I opened my eyes and said 'Gordon?'.

Then he fled the room," I explained and Jake's expression became one of regret. "Sorry. Didn't mean to yell at you," he said and started to leave. "Wait!" I shouted and grabbed his hand to stop him. "What's wrong with Gordon? Why did he just run from me when I did nothing?" I asked and he sat down next to me. "You remind him of his ex-fiance , Kathy," he gave me a sad smile as the words sunk in. "Did she leave him?" I asked out of curisouty. "No, she died," his voice went harsh and I didn't pursue the subject. "Oh," the word fell out of my mouth. "Should I go apologize to him?" I asked feeling bad. "For what?" he raised a brow. "I don't know. Upsetting him, maybe?" I looked unsure and fell back on the bed. "Let him cool off," he rose from the bed and left me alone with my thoughts. I curled up in the bed and found it impossible to sleep. I didn't know where I was so I decided to explore. I wandered the halls and made it to a kitchen. I was in a huge mansion, and utterly lost.

Ch.6)
My lips cracked and I touched my finger to them. When I pulled my finger back I noticed the blood. I swore softly under my breath and looked for anything in the kitchen that looked like a beer. I was feeling glum, which wasn't very unusual in the past few days. I found a case of beer in the fridge and pulled it out. I was going to get wasted. I opened one beer and guzzled it down in a matter of minutes. The beer was bitter but it left with a warm sensation. I found myself opening another beer and drinking a little of it. I was dizzy and since this was my first time getting slightly drunk I was amazed at the feeling. I could do almost anything and blame it on the alcohol. A shadow was cast over me and I couldn't help but giggle. "Claire," Jake sighed my name and pulled me to my feet. I broke into hysterical laughter though he never cracked a joke. "Did you really have to go get drunk?" he asked me and hauled me over his shoulder.

He set me on the bed I was on early and I glared at him. Without warning I burst into tears. I wrapped my arms around myself and cried. "I hate you! You took me away from my mother! It's all your fault I'm a mess right now! You ruined my life! I just wanted to be normal! You stupid, inconsiderate , jerk!" I screamed at Jake. "You ruined my life," I whispered softly. "You took me away -," I was cut off by his hand clamping down on my mouth. "So you an over-emotional drunk," he sighed and wrapped his arms around me. Despite my hatred for him I found myself leaning towards him for comfort. I rested my head against his chest as silent tears ran down my face. He wiped them off with his thumb and tucked my head under his chin, possessively. "What are your parents like?" I asked pulling myself together. "I don't know. My parents died when I was little, I never really knew them. They placed me in foster care, and I kept moving from family to family until I was fifteen. I found out I was the Wind power, and I practically ran to go tell the king.

I was excited to belong to something and not just be another foster kid to a family," he whispered and ran his finger down my face. "I'm sorry. You belong to someone, do you know that?" I asked and his eyes met mine. "Who?" his eyes held hope and I smiled. "Gordon, and Dylan," I replied leaving myself out. "I don't belong to them. As soon as we are finished 'saving the world' they leave me," his eyes dropped and sadness was carved in his features. "You also belong to me. And as soon as we 'save the world' I won't leave you, I promise" I replied. He looked down at me a shred of hope in his eyes."Do you mean that? Or are you just saying it?" he asked somewhat harshly. Instead of answering his question I wrapped my arms around his neck and brought his lips to mine. He froze in shock, and then I felt his arms tighten on me and his lips return the light pressure. I pulled away for a brief second and looked in his eyes. "I mean it," I whispered. He crashed his lips against mine and a smile tugged against my lips. He pulled away and pulled me so I was lying on the bed. He wrapped his arms around my waist and we just laid there. He stroked my hair and I sighed in contentment. Did I have the strength to run away now? Or was I forever trapped under Jake's spell?

Ch.7
I woke to laughter booming down the hallway and groaned. "So you finally found her ?" a loud voice asked and my door flew open. I squeaked in surprise and someone's chest touched my back. I turned my head to see Jake laying completely oblivious to the Kind standing in the room. "Ah. Hello, Claire! I am so glad you finally decided to show yourself to us. I see you are well acquainted with Jake, are you not?" the King asked looking at Jake's arm that was slung around my waist. "We are friends, your majesty," I replied and blushed a deep Scarlett. "Such a pretty little thing, is she not Gordon? If only I was ten years younger I would make you mine. I always had a thing for a fiery girl," he sighed and sat down on the bed. I flinched and Jake slowly woke up. He sat up next to me and pulled me on his lap. "Let me show you my castle.

I heard you last night in the kitchen, drinking?" he laid his hand on my knee and I moved it. "I was drinking, your majesty. I've been," I paused unsure how to continue,"stressed, I suppose." A smile found its way on the king's mouth and my stomach twisted. "I know a very good way to get rid of stress. I might show you tonight," he suggested and Jake stiffened. My eyes widened at how blatant he was being, especially with Jake holding me the way he was. "Do you really think I'm that easy?" I hissed at him and my hands flamed. "I like my ladies feisty," he moved closer and I put my hands out to ward him off. "Your majesty, I'm only going to tell you this one time, Move away from Claire," Jake's voice came out too controlled, too tight. The kind looked at Jake with an amused smile and motioned one finger. Men in armor stepped in the room and I got out of Jake's lap before my hair flamed. "You really don't know who you are messing with, Jake.

You having always been a loyal servant to me, and know," the king flailed his arms toward me, "Now! You disobey me because of a girl? Are you sure she is not going to leave you?" Jake moved beside me and I searched the room for Dylan and Gordon. Neither were anywhere to be seen, it was just Jake and I against the rest of the kingdom. "Your majesty. I suggest if you do not want your castle to go down in flames that you leave and left the lady cool down, or shall we let her burn down the castle?" Jake asked as my hair went up in flames. Jake took a few steps away from me so he wouldn't get burned and I sent him an apologetic smile. "It appears if I do push for her to sleep with me she would accidentally burn the castle down," he king sighed and my whole arms went up in flames. I was too angry to speak, I just clenched my jaw as flames began to rise from my whole body. The king left and so did his servants, I just stood there flaming. "Claire, you need to relax," Jake's voice came above the flames that licked my ears. Upon hearing his voice my flames died and I stood there seething.

Ch.8)
I watched the moon from my window and let my red hair hang loose around my shoulders. I had a male's shirt on for my pajamas - since my mother forgot to pack mine. I had found it in one of the draws in the room, and it smelled of the forest. I knew it wasn't the King because he smelled of rotten eggs and beer. The scent was delicious, and I couldn't stop myself from inhaling it. I scanned the edge of the forest, foolishly hoping the owner of the shirt would walk out of it. A soft knock on the door sent me from the window, much to my regret. I wrapped a blanket around myself before going and opening the door. I opened the door and found Jake standing there looking nervous. "Hey," I breathed sound out of breath. He was in his pajamas too, and he looked sexy in them. His hair was tousled, and he had sweatpants on.

My eyes floated over his bare chest and landed on his face. "I can't sleep," he said his voice sounding raw. "Do you want to come in?" I asked and opened the door wider for him to enter. "I'm sorry for waking you. Maybe I should just go," he searched my face. "I wasn't sleeping," I told him and he looked somewhat surprised. "Are you afraid the King was going to come for you?" he asked and his hands balled in fists. "No, I would just flame him," I chuckled at the thought of the King screaming with flames in his hair. It would serve him right, I thought. "Maybe I should never had responded to your mother. The King told me about you and that it was my choose if we, The Power, needed you. You would be happier with you mom leading a normal life, wouldn't you?" he asked and I was shocked. I just sat down on the bed, taking it all in. "And then when you told me that you wouldn't leave me after we finished saving the world, I realized I need you," he continued talking and I just looked up at him, shocked. "Then I figured if I really cared for you, then I would let you return to your normal life. Well, as normal as it is," he rambled on and I stood up.

"Jake? What are you saying?" I asked and the blanket fell to the ground. "Wow. My shirt looks better on you than me," he breathed his gaze sliding down my legs. I blushed and he shook his head. "I guess what I am saying is that I'm letting you go," he shrugged and looked down. "I can go home?" my voice broke and hope was in my eyes. "Yes," he looked up at me. I stepped back, and sat on the bed. Did I really want to go home? Did I want to leave Jake? Despite everything, I found out that I was actually enjoying myself. Now, I was free to leave. "Come with me," I stood up and look at Jake. He at me with a pained expression and I wrapped my arms around him. "Come home with me, Jake," I whispered against his chest. "We can live a normal, happy ,long life," I looked up at him and his arms came around me. "I can't. I belong here," he stepped back from me and hurt darkened my eyes. "Goodbye Jake," I turned around and threw my clothes in my suitcase. I grabbed a pair of pants and a shirt, and dashed to the bathroom. I slipped on my clothes and grabbed my shoes.

I put them on quickly and then came out of the bathroom. I pulled my hair up in a high ponytail and then turned to face Jake. He stood there, his face expressionless. I zipped up my suitcase and then went to hug Jake. "I'll miss you," I said as his arms wrapped around me. I pulled back and grabbed a pen. "Call me?" I asked and jotted my number on a piece of paper. I quickly handed it to him and then reached for my suitcase. Jake walked me to the front door silently, and a few tears escaped me. "Goodbye," I said softly and reached up on my tippy-toes to kiss his cheek. My lips lingered on his cheek and he tightened his grip on me. He turned his cheek so our mouths met, and I kissed him softly. "Take the car," Jake said when he pulled back. He handed me a printed sheet of instructions to get back to my house. "Thank you Jake," I said softly. "Here are the car keys," he pressed the keys in my hand and I knew that he would take no for an answer. He shut the door without saying another word and I put the keys on the ground by the door. I knew I would feel back for taking the car so I decided I didn't need it. I could walk, after all, I did have two feet.

Ch.9)
I stopped on the edge of the road to rub my feet. Why didn't I accept the car that Jake offered for me to take? I pulled off my shoes and flicked the flashlight on. I rubbed my feet and groaned in pain. I stole a glance at my watch. I've been walking for about four hours, and still there was no sign of life. Trees surrounded the road that I was walking on. I was hungry, and tired. My stomach growled and I looked at the sheet of paper for the first time. The road was about fifteen miles! I had a long way to walk.

Gordon's Pov:
I knew I never liked her for a reason! She just up and left! She's just like my Kathy! She left. I blinked back the tears that formed in my eyes at the thought of Kathy. Kathy never left on purpose. She died. "I'm sorry Kathy, babe. I love you and miss you ever day," I whispered. I turned around and paced the huge living room I was in. Jake sat on the couch looking like he was a zombie. Dylan walked in the room and jingled a pair of keys. "At least she didn't get far," he said and Jake's head whipped up. "She's walking?!?" he stood up abruptly and the small couch nearly tipped over. "Yeah. I just went out to check if she took a car, but she didn't," Dylan said a little taken back from Jake's anger. "I told her to take the god damn car!" he yelled and Dylan dropped the keys. "You love her, don't you? That's why you let her go. If you love them let them go, if they come back they are yours.

But she's not coming back, Jake,'' I broke the silence that had settled between us. For the first time in my life I saw a tear slide down Jake's cheek. He was in over his head. I knew he was falling for her, but I didn't know that he was falling that fast. It happened that way with Kathy and I. I fell for her hard, and fast. The King barged in the room and glared at the three of us. "Where is she?!" he demanded. Dylan's hands shook, but I just ignored him. "She's gone," Jake answered though he seemed to be talking to himself more than the King. "I was going to make her mine last night! She was going to be my newest girlfriend!" the King shouted in frustration. "You have ten girlfriends, do you really need another?" I asked, unamused by this all. "None with her talent of Fire. I bet she would be great in bed," the king sighed and Jake slowly stood up.

His eyes were cold, lifeless. So much frikin Drama, I thought and closed my eyes. I heard a loud thud and my eyes flew open. Jake had the King pinned up against the wall. The King's face was turned red, and I knew that Jake had his hand on the King's throat, cutting off his air. I heard Jake talking but couldn't make out what he was saying. Oh, Kathy, I sighed. How much I miss you, Kathy. The King fell to the ground sputtering and handed Jake a set of keys. "Let's go," Jake ordered and I stood up. "Where?" Dylan asked. "To go find Claire. There are dangerous people in those woods," Jake said harshly and I followed him to the car. I slid in the car and we headed on the road. Jake's face was determined as he excel-orated.

Ch.10)
I slept in a shed that for a few hours. I had finally reached a small neighborhood, and found a small shed with hay. I swiped at the hay on my clothes, and wiped the tears off my face. I grabbed my suitcase and grabbed a few apples from the tree in the people yard. I put them in my suitcase and grabbed two to eat for breakfast. I silently thanked the people who's shed I stayed in and apple's I got. I was on the road again. The neighborhood was replaced by the woods again, and I couldn't help the sigh that escaped me. The tree's began to look all the same and the sweat ran down my forehead. The sun was betting down on my relentlessly. After walking for about two hours, I stopped an rested in the shade. I ate another apple and then continued on my way. I felt that each step I made, I was getting slower. A familiar noise reached my ears and I looked back. A car was making its way down the road.

As they got closer I flagged them down. "Hey!" I yelled and they stopped. A guy in his forties rolled down the window, and smiled at me. "Need a ride?" he asked and flashed a toothless smile. "Yes, please," I ignored the gut feeling not to get in the car. He hopped out and grabbed my suitcase. "Here, let me help you," he said and threw my suitcase in the back of his car. "Thank you so much," I smiled grateful and he got in the car again. I pulled on the handle to open the door but it didn't budge. "Um. I can't get in," I looked at the driver but he just laughed. "It's called locking the car doors," he yelled as he drove away with my suitcase. I watched dumbfounded as he drove away with my lunch, clothes, and cell phone. "Great! Just Great!" I shouted and hit a tree. "Ow!" I yelped in pain and looked at my bleeding knuckles. I sat down under the tree for shade, and closed my eyes. I just needed to clear my head and then think of a plan.

Something wet touched my cheek and I jumped awake. Rain pelted down on my and I stood up confused. The memories flooded to me in a big wave. Leaving Jake, walking for hours, getting my suitcase stolen, and falling asleep under a tree. I walked to the middle of the street and started walking again. I shivered in my wet clothes and rubbed my arms. A few tears ran down my face and I didn't bother to wipe them.

Gordon's pov:
"We've been searching for hours, Jake. It's time to go home," I put my hand on his shoulder as we he kept going house to house asking if they saw a red haired, blued eyed girl walking. He ignored me and continued on to the next house. My cell phone beeped in my pocket and I took it out.

Hello,
I am so glad that Fire has finally decided to join us! I , however, must tell you that there has been a murder of my wife. I know that you guys usually do not deal with this investigating murders, but this was my wife. I have talked to the King and he confirmed that you shall deal with this little problem. He is afraid that whoever murdered my wife will come after him next. Report to me immediately and I will fill you in with the details. I would also like you to attend the funeral, this Thursday. That gives you two days until the funeral. I do hope that you enjoy being part of the Power Fire! Also, if you have any single women friends, I am looking for a wife. She needs to be able to clean, cook, bear me a male child, and entertain me and my friends.

-Dorcan Smithes

"Ugh!" I said in disgust. His wife just died and he's already looking for a new one! I flipped my phone off and ran to catch up with Dylan and Jake. "We have a mission, guys. Something about Dorcan's wife murder. We have to report to him so he will give us the details," I said as Dylan's phone beeped. Dylan flipped his phone open and read the email. "Gordon's right. And apparently no one told him Claire left," Dylan shook his head as Jake's phone beeped. "No! We are not going anywhere until we find Claire!" Jake turned around to look at us. "I'm with Jake. Claire is alive, Dorcan's wife isn't. And I don't really care about the King anyway," Dylan said and Jake smiled at him. "Fine. I'll help too," I sighed in defeat. "Hey! I heard you were looking for a red head, with blue eyes. I have some information on her," a guy in kaky shorts said and stuck his hand out for Jake to shake.

Ch.11)
Three thousand fourt-two, three thousand fourt-three, three thousand forty-four, I continued to count. I made it to the edge of town and sat down on the sidewalk to rest. My stomach grumbled as the smell of hotdogs hit my nose. I eyed a hotdog stand and watched as a guy threw his half-eatin hotdog in the trash. I quickly made my way to the trash and picked up the hotdog, ignoring the many looks I received. "Miss?" the hotdog stand worker asked me. I looked up at her and then down at the hotdog, ashamed. "Would you like a free hotdog?" she asked and I nodded my head. "Here. Is it okay if it is cold? Heating it up costs money," she said and I nodded my head again. "Thank you so much," I told her and took the cold hotdog. I made my hands grow red and warmed the hotdog myself. "You Fire?!" she asked staring at my red hands. "Yes, I am," I replied a little wary.

"It's a pleasure to meet you," she stuck out her hand and I made sure my hand was cool before I shook hers. "Is there anyway I can help you?" she asked and noticed my slightly damp clothes. I used my hot hands to dry my clothes while I was walking. Rain puts a damper on my power. "No Thanks. I best be going on my way, now," I sighed and flamed my hair to get it completely dry. "Wow. Where are you going?" she asked. "Home," I replied and let my hair keep it's flame for her entertainment. "Well. It was nice to meet you!" she replied and watched my flames die on my hair. "You too," I smiled and continued to walk.

Gordon's Pov:
"So she stayed in his shed and ate his apples," I mused once we were in the car again. "At least you know she's not starving on the side of the road," Dylan said when Jake's expression went straight to worry. All of a sudden the car came to a halt. "Woah, Can you make that any smoother?" I asked sarcastically as Jake jumped out of the car. Seconds later he came in the car wheeling her luggage. He threw it in the car and I grabbed it. I zipped it open and found most of her clothes gone. "What do you think happened?" Jake asked, worry etched in his face. Someone took her in their car and rummaged through her luggage. Then threw out what they didn't want, I thought to myself, but there was no way I was going to tell Jake that. "She found the luggage too hard to wheel around and took out her most valuable items," I shrugged like it was no big deal. Minutes later Jake started the car and started driving again.

I continued to search through her clothes but found nothing more. We made it to the closest town and Jake got out. I got out after him and started asking around if anyone saw her. "Guys!" Dylan yelled as he chewed on a hotdog. Jake and I came running over to him. "She say her, even talked to her," Dylan pointed to the hotdog stand worker. It was like she was leaving us clues behind to where she went. "She stopped by here to eat a hotdog out of the trash but then I offered her a cold hotdog. She took it and warmed it up in with her fire power. I asked her where she was going, and she said home. Then she started off in that direction," the hotdog stand worker pointed down a road and Jake thanked her. We got back in the car and headed in the direction where the hotdog stand worker pointed. "She can't be far," Dylan broke the silence that I was enjoying.

Ch.12)
My feet protested every-time I set them down to take another step. I shivered and made my hands red to warm myself. I flamed my hair and tried to warm myself up. I sat down beside a homeless person, just for a small break. "How long you been walkin'?" he asked me. "I don't know, a long time," I sighed and rubbed my warm hands over my face. "Will ya?" he asked and pointed to a small thing of sticks. "Light them?" I asked producing a flame from pointer finger. "Ye," he replied and I light the sticks. "Wut a useful' talent," he smiled at me and I nodded. "Yeah, it is," I smiled back and got back to my feet. "Well. I'm going to be on my way," I stretched. "K' Nice meetin' ya," he waved as I walked away. I waved back and tried to ignore my feet. I took out the map and made sure I was on the right road, before stuffing it back in my pocket. One, Two, Three, Four, Five, Six, Seven,Eight I started counting again to help pass the time.

Gordon's Pov:
My phone beeped and I pulled it out, sighing.

"Hey guys, the King is getting mad that we aren't working the mission," I said and Dylan laughed. "The King can kiss my butt," Dylan laughed and I couldn't help but chuckle. I clicked 'respond' and started typing to the King.

We are out looking for Claire.

I clicked 'send' and then turned my phone off. We continued to drive until we spotted a red head walking on the side of the road.

Ch.13)
Gordon's POV:
Jake pulled being the red head and practically ran to her. When she turned around, I was expecting Claire, but found a different woman. Jake backed away from her and got back in the car. He rested his head against the steering-wheel and I rested my hand on his shoulder. "We'll find her," I assured him and he started the car.

Claire's POV:
Rain started pouring down and lighting light up the sky. I needed to find a place to sleep, and I needed to find it quickly. I probably looked awful, but I didn't have time to care about my appearance. I was wearing the same dirty clothes, mud stains cracked on them, and my hair was a red mess on my head. No doubt, I looked like a hobo. "Hey," a female stopped and rolled down her window. "Hi," I replied and tried a smile. "Want a ride? To the nearest homeless facility?" she asked and I nodded. Why not? I got in the car and she drove away. Minutes later I was being dropped off at the Homeless Facility. "Thank you," I said as I closed her car door. "No problem, I'm just glad to help," she waved as I walked into the building. I walked in and got a room. I took a shower and laundered my clothes.

I brushed my curly hair with my fingers and put my dry clothes back on. I ate dinner and was just about to go to sleep when a male stopped me. "Hello Claire," he showed me a smile and I narrowed my eyes. "Hello," I replied though it sounded more like a question. ''I am Dorcan Smithes, and I am looking for a wife," he grinned. "So? Not my problem, is it?" I asked and tried to get past him. "Now.Now. It is your problem because you are going to be my wife," he snapped his fingers and to huge duded grabbed my arms. "You really don't want to mess with me," I laughed, gaining sudden confidence. "Oh, really? Well. Let me tell you something about me. I am a ruthless killer," he laughed alongside me. I stopped laughing and felt my hands heat up. I smiled feeling my hair go up in flames. My hands were on fire and the men who were holding me back began to complain. "Watch how powerful she is," Dorcan giggled and leaned in to peck my lips.

Flames began to lick my arms and I willed them to flame. The two men holding me let go and I stepped forward to Dorcan. His eyes went wide and he stumbled over a chair. "I didn't know your whole body flamed! You - You Monster!" He shouted and heat began to rise from my legs, and stomach. "I told you not to mess with me," I growled at him and finally my face looked just like the rest of me - a big ball of flames. I was like a person who just walked out of a burning building. Every inch of me was on fire. Dorcan scrambled over a table and dashed for the exit. I let him leave and slowly my flames died. Thank god all clothes are fire proof, I thought to myself, otherwise I would be naked!

Ch.14)
"Get out!" The old woman screamed at me and the rest of the homeless people stood behind her. "We do not want f-freaks like you in this p-p-place!" she yelled again and all the homeless people cheered. I glared at them all but left like they told me too. Now, I had nowhere to sleep. I was exhausted, and felt like crap. I in an alleyway and let fat tears roll their way down my cheeks and onto my lap. Before long those fat tears turned into full out sobs. "I want to go home!" I wailed to no one. "Jake, help me," I cried and buried my face in my hands. I was drenched, because of the rain, which never stopped.

Gordons POV:
"If you needed a place to rest for the night, a dry place, where would you go to?" Dylan asked me. "The Homeless Facility," I replied half-asleep. "Bingo!" Dylan yelled and drank another energy drink. "Alright. We are going there," Jake's voice penetrated my half-asleep state and I groaned. "Don't you guys ever sleep?!"I asked agitated. "Yes. Just not until we find Claire," Jake said as Dylan handed him another energy drink. We arrived at the homeless facility within minutes and Jake and Dylan went inside. I watched the sky rain angry tears down on the car. "Kathy? If you can hear me, please lead the us to Claire," I whispered and closed my eyes. "I love you babe," I said before giving in to sleep. The door slammed close and Dylan started talking a mile a minute. "Guess what!? One of the homeless guys he followed her into an alley when she left and he said she just sat there. Then he went back because it's raining," Dylan happily chatted. I looked over at Jake, and he looked hopeful. Jake started the car and drove to an alley. I'm guessing the one that she's at.

Claires's POV:
I sat there my arms around my knees crying for god know how long. I felt like a used rag doll, no one wants a used rag doll. "Claire. Shh, babe," Jake's warm voice said in my ear and arms engulfed me. I looked up into his eyes and everything that had happened to me didn't matter anymore. The only thing that mattered was that I was here in his arms. "Jake," I sighed his name and he picked me up. "I love you," I whispered and closed my eyes. His mouth came down on my softly. He pulled back and a huge grin was plastered to his face. "I love you too," he grinned down at me and I giggled. I stifled a yawn and closed my eyes. I snuggled my head in Jake's chest and fell asleep instantly.

Gordon:
Jake came out of the alley with a sleeping Claire in his arms. He looked over-joyed and relieved. "Thanks, Kathy," I whispered and shut the world out. Just like Claire I fell asleep almost instantly.

Claire:
I woke snuggled in a pair of arms and a smile lit my face. I turned my body around and came nose to nose with Jake. He groaned in his sleep and then slowly lifted his eyelids. "Perfect,"he whispered and kissed me on the nose. "Do you still want to go home, because I'll take you," he sat up abruptly and put space between us. Hurt darkened my eyes, but it passed quickly. "You know what?" I asked and climbed in his lap. "Hm?" he asked keeping his arms by his side. "I like where I am. In fact, I love it," I said sincerely. When I was walking home I realized even if I went back to my mom I wasn't truly home. Home is where the heart is, and my heart was with Jake. "Really? That means you don't want to leave?" he asked hopeful. "I don't want to leave. I just got home," I pretended to pout and he kissed my lips. "We have a mission, you know," he grimaced and I laughed. "I'll do the missions. As long as you don't leave me when we finish them," I smiled and he kissed me. "I'll never leave you. Are you sure you want this life? I could always take you home," he said a little worried."You are my home," I told him and his arms wound around me, finally.

THE END!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

I didn't have time to spell check it so sorry! It was just a quick thing I made up.... I know it is a bit like the last airbender with the elements..but only four people in the entire world could do them and they were controlled by the king so it is different! Thanks for reading! I actually had to put this up so I'm sitting in a cafe, sipping hot chocolate, typing this.
