Fire and Ice Prologue

Meet Lilly...
My first article! I hope everyone likes it. I know it's short, but keep in mind that it's a prologue!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I pulled my comforter over my head as the sweltering sun exploded into my dark bedroom. "Mom," I groaned, "Why are you blinding me?"

"Honey, you know how much we have to do today. Get up and get ready!" she shouted.

"Mom, can't I just have five more minutes?" I whined, still trying to shield my eyes from the sunlight.

"Lilly, can't you just get up today, for once, without a fight?" my mother mocked in the same whining tone. I heard the shower running in my bathroom and knew that there was no negotiating; I was going to have to get up.

"Fine," I yelled, back. I wish I could just be like a normal teenager, but my parents wouldn't stand for that. God forbid I sleep in past 8 o'clock on a Saturday! My mother rushed out of the room with a muttered goodbye as I pushed back the covers. As soon as the scorching water hit me I was awake and my mind was swimming with thoughts of the plans for the day. Our days were always jam-packed since my father was campaigning for president. Yes, I know, President of the United States, my father? I was shocked too! It doesn't matter what I want anyway, it's happening, whether I like it or not.

"Lilly, we have to leave in 20 minutes. Hurry up!" my mother screamed, cutting off my thoughts. I stepped out of the shower, still thinking about the busy day ahead of me. We were having lunch with my father's opponent. (Yes, that's right, I said opponent) If you thought that was weird, it gets worse! His son is the most annoying creature that ever walked the planet. To make things worse he never leaves me alone at these things! He would probably follow me to the bathroom, if I let him. As my mother yelled again from my bedroom I put all of my thoughts and worries aside and focused on getting ready.

10 minutes later we were rushing towards the limo, all the while my parents were complaining about how late we were going to be. For me, the seconds seemed to be racing by. Before long we were at the Gardner home. As I stepped out of the limo, I allowed one more self-pitying thought to cross my mind, 'Today is gonna suck', and then I followed my parent's into that thing's house.
