Chapter 5
I was knocked out, surly I was. Either that or I was dead because I couldn't feel any pain, nothing. The last thing I could remember was poor Wesley's terrified face as he watched me be dragged into some kind of teleport thing by the demon. Oh gosh. My arm. If I could see, or move, for that matter, I would have looked at my arm which would have had three large wounds deep within the triceps of my arm. So I guess that one theory about people who were in a coma of some sort were able to hear things and think. I guess you could call this a coma. I felt myself being carried by human arms, or what felt like them anyway. I heard a door open and some humming of voices. I heard thumping of feet; I was being carried up a flight of stairs it seemed; or else someone just needs to learn to pick up their feet when walking. I was then placed on what felt like a bed, and heard a door shut. Gah! C'mon Addy! Wake up! You gotta!
Nothing... Great. Wait... there WAS something. I could start to see a dim light, which became brighter. Before I knew it, I was awake, actually being blinded by the light. When my eyes adjusted to the lighting, I looked around at me surroundings. I was surprised. The interior of the room I was in; a relatively big room, might I add. It looked like... a log cabin, of some sort. That idea first popped in my mind by the little deer head mounted atop the fireplace in the middle of the room. The walls of the room were, of course, long logs. The bed I was on wasn't undone at all; so the chocolaty brown and yellowish specks of the covers were perfect all for a little wrinkles where I was sitting. There was a backboard on the bed that was the same brown as the covers, as well as the yellowish specks. If you looked closer you could tell they were little yellow flowers. Yep, a girl's room. To my left, against a wall, was an old pine dresser with a mirror perched atop it with two little drawers on either side, and five big ones, almost like my dresser back home. The floor was wood as well; duh. Under the bed, there was a rug, which looked to be an antique Indian rug. It as beautiful, the way the reds and blues and greens swirled and zigzagged in an unusual pattern, but very pretty. Really completes the room.
I just noticed that it was cold in the room, me still having my purple shirt and skinny jeans on. Soon did I realize, my shirt was soaked in blood. I figured. I looked at my arm, which became stiff and numb, was stitched up in three different places. So THAT was what the metallic and salty smell. I sat up, groaning. I was groggy from the knock out. I turned around, expecting a big spot where the blood was on my shirt but there was none. gosh. I guess it was all dried. I laid back down on the bed for a while and just relaxed, not wanting to fully get up. My attention was brought to the door when the doorknob turned and a dog trotted in, and the door closed. My eyes boggled at this sight. The dog opened the door on its own!!!! I was in shock. The dog was a Golden Retriever, probably one of the biggest I've seen. It jumped on the bed, and lightly pulled on my arm in its mouth, wanting to follow. So much for relaxing...
I groaned and got up, not wanting to put any pressure on my arm, and followed the dog out of the room into a hall, with pictures of woods, meadows, and deer heads mounted on wooden plaques with a golden outline around it. We turned a sharp right to what seemed to be a living room. The minute I turned the corner, Little House on the Prairie flashed in my mind; almost identical to the image in my mind when I read the series. There was a kitchen in the far corner, with a table in the middle, with dark red wooden cabinets around the wall of the kitchen, and a stove and oven around a large fridge, surrounded by counter. There was a little white flower pot in the middle of the table with little sunflowers inside. Across from the kitchen, was the main living room. There was a cotton-looking couch in front of a stone-covered fireplace that was crackling softly, the only sound other than the dog's breath and mine. There was a little coffee table right in front of the couch, but it was slanted. It seemed as if it was pulled closer to the couch to be used as a footrest. There was a coffee cup on top of the table, lightly steaming. There was another antique rug, same design, but different colors this time. There were blacks, whites, purples, and blues. Another most beautiful rug I've ever seen. There was a newspaper lazily tossed across the couch.
The dog started pushing the back of my legs with its head towards the couch. I the didn't move at first because I was still admiring the room, so the dog just simply pushed harder. I finally noticed, giggled, and half walked, half pushed to the couch. I sat down with a plop, and picked up the newspaper. Everything became clear now. The heading of the paper was "Light World News!!" And had a subheading named "New Visitor Brings Word Around Local Towns". There was a long article about... me and my attacker. BREAKING NEWS!!! Rumors about the Chosen One have spread across the Valley to Chamberlain. Several people have said they've spotted Her being dragged by a demon; though demon spotting are rare around these areas. The only spot where there were occasional sopttings are in the forest, where a few said she was dragged to. One witness, Thomasson Occlude saw the whole incident.
"It all happened so fast, but I remember everything. I was taking a walk in the woods, walking on the bank of the lake that runs right through it. I heard a scream and grunting from a girl, and it sounded like she was fighting something or someone off. I quickly and quietly ran to the backside of an Oak tree, and peered around it, to find Her just about to run away from a demon; I couldn't tell what type because its' back was turned. But before she could run, the devil thing grabbed Her with one of its' wginormous hands, dripping with scarlet coating all around its' black body. She screamed about two more long ear-piercing screeches.
The thing looked to be as if it were laughing, and suddenly stopped, looked to its' left, and screeched itself. There was a blur of light, and the head of the creature was on the ground, She was dropped, and the demon's body seemed to melt into the ground as did its' head. I don't have a clue who defeated the creature, but then the Girl crawled to a tree a few feet away, and looked up at the man, relatively young, probably in his 14's late 13's, who saved her life. He helped her up, and carried her deeper into the woods. I noticed, from what looks I got from her during the whole incident, that her arm was badly bleeding, and has he carried her, she led a thick trail of blood which left an awkward stench that was mixed in with the smell of Pine and Oak trees. After the incident was all well and done, I ran out of the woods, following the river, and went to tell police."
My eyes went wide as I read the column once... twice.... three times... and I was still in shock... So I guess this is the place the person lived by which he lived in. The dog came back to me after I put the newspaper down. I noticed that the dog was wearing a collar. The satin collar was satin black, but the tag said Kelly. The border of the black collar was hot pink string. Very cute, I might add. She pushed my knee, apparently wanting me to get up. I got up, and she trotted off around the same corner I came through before. I followed reluctantly, and she was laying next to my spot on the bed, wagging her tail. She barked at me softly, and rolled over onto her back.
I laughed quietly and waled over and hopped onto the high bed. I laid down the way I woke up here, and she put her head on my lap. I petted it for some time before I dozed off again, this time, free of nightmares. I must have been asleep for a long while, because when I awoke once more, Kelly was gone, and the room went dark. I was about to get off the bed when I heard the door open, and I heard the SAME footsteps I heard when I was knocked out. I couldn't see he door open, though, because it was around a corner in the room. I swung my legs back on the bed, and stared at the wall where I expected someone to walk past. Soon enough, I was right. A man, about late 13's early 14's walked in."You... must be Addison." He said, and make a sneer that scared the living Hell right out of me. I was in trouble. Deep, deep trouble. Or... so I thought.
