Are you completely impressed when you go to your friend's party and see the wonderful array of snacks and appetizers and wonder just how they did it? Let these great finger food recipes help you turn your otherwise dull and mundane party into a memorable event.
Finger Food Recipes: Cheese Bites
Cheese bites are very easy-to-make and are simply 'mouth smackingly' delicious. They are easy to mix and it only takes ten minutes to prepare them. You could also try adding some crumbled bacon on top or sprinkle some chopped chives for better presentation.
Ingredients:
- Margarine or warm butter, ½ cup.
- Plain flour, 1 cup.
- Grated cheddar cheese, 2 cups.
- Ground cayenne pepper, ¼ tsp.
- Red pepper or paprika, 1 tsp.
Start by preheating the oven to about 400 degrees F. Mix the flour, butter and pepper together and then add the cheese and mix all of these well. Shape the mixture into small cheese balls or bite-sized balls. Arrange these balls on a baking sheet and bake it in the oven for ten minutes. This makes about 35 bites.
Appetizers Finger Food: Appetizer Kebabs
Appetizer kebabs make a colorful yet inexpensive form of party finger food. In this recipe, I have suggested some very basic and traditional ingredients but you could go ahead and experiment with the ingredients if you want to. From honey dew melon to strawberries instead of pineapple, the choice is all yours! How about adding some salami and cheese? The list is simply endless, so just go ahead and have fun!
Ingredients:
- Small cocktail wieners, 1 package.
- Drained pineapple chunks, 1 Can.
- Small green olives, 5 ounces.
- Cheese cubes 8 ounces.
- Toothpicks.
On the toothpicks, place each wiener, olive, pineapple and cube of cheese. Arrange them nicely on a plate or tray and refrigerate until they are ready to be served to your guests.
Party Finger Food: Cream Cheese Wontons
These finger food items are simply great! Cream cheese wontons are soft and creamy on the inside and crispy and crunchy on the outside. Simple exploding with flavor, you can experiment with different ingredients like adding some crumbled bacon or sprinkling a dash of chopped chives. This finger food recipe is limited only by the imagination.
Ingredients:
- Softened cream cheese, 8 ounces.
- Wanton wrappers, 16.
- Oil.
- Sweet and sour sauce for dipping, 1 jar.
Heat the oil in a pan or pour it into a skillet and heat on high temperature. Peanut oil or vegetable oil works the best. While you are heating the oil, lay out all the wanton wrappers on a tray. Keep a small bowl of water close to you so you can wet your fingers. Add a dab of cream cheese to a corner of each of the wrappers.
Use your fingers and wet the ends of the wrapper that are closest to the cream cheese and then fold the other end down to seal the edges, making that typical wonton triangular shape. Make sure the edges are sealed tightly but it would be good to leave a few gaps at the corners so that the wontons don’t expand and burst. Drop a couple of wontons into the oil and keep turning them over so that they get cooked or turn brown. Take them out of the oil, set them on a paper towel so as to drain them and then serve them with hot and sweet sauce!
