Fighting For Something Real 2

This story is about fighting for true love and sister rivalry. Hope you like it...
"Kat, who's your friends?"
"His name is Marcus, we just met...Marcus this is my sister Rose."
"Nice to meet you."

Just like before, he reached out his hand in the same formal way he had with me. Unlike me Rose took his hand and leaned in and kissed him on the cheek. This was the proper Latin way to greet people, we only greet our family that way, but Rose uses on guys she is interested in as well.

"Why haven't I seen you around here before?"
"My mom got transferred into your aunt's law firm over the summer, and they became very good friends. Your aunt was nice enough to invite us to this party."
"Well it's a shame it this long for us to meet."

Marcus laughed lightly, and I felt my heart began to race. His smile was beautiful, and the sound of his laugh sounded like a sweet melody soft yet manly it was like he was perfect. My thought was broken Rose's obnoxious laughter, what was I thinking, like Marcus would be interested in someone like me. It's not that I thought I was ugly, It's just that I know Rose is the pretty daughter in my family.

"Well let's not waste anymore time, lets go talk."
Before Marcus could say anything, Rose grabbed his hand and led him to the swing the back of the yard.

I was alone once again, but this time I wasn't happy about it. I went back inside heading for the door, I needed to get out of here I felt like such a fool. Just as I was reaching the door, my parents walk in. Great no getting away now.

"Katherine where are you off to?" My mother was using her serious tone, the one she used when she knew I had done something wrong but would pretend as if she didn't know.
"Nowhere mami,"
"That's what I thought, now go get you a plate of food and come and sit down with me and your father."

The rest of the night seem to drag on forever, I thought it would never end, and what made it worse was that Rose and Marcus had never come back inside. I couldn't help but wonder what they could possible be talking about.

It was 5 minutes before 12 and all the younger children were getting a spot by the tree and getting ready to open the presents. I stood in the back by the hallway and watched as my uncle come in dressed as Santa Claus to pass out the presents. None of the children believe in Santa Claus, they see all the adults bring in the presents and put them under the tree and they stayed up till twelve to open them, but it's been a tradition since my grandfather.

I was thinking about how much I miss my grandfather when i felt something hit my arm, I reach down and pick up wrapping paper wrapped up in a ball, I look around confused on who threw it at me when I see Marcus sitting across the room starting right at me with a big smile on his face. I felt my heart begin the race again, god his smile was breathtaking. I feel myself smiling and felts a little nautios. He motions me to come over, I force myself to walk over, and sit down next to him.

"We meet again."
"Hello..."
I felt my face get hotter by the moment, I was sure I would begin to sweat.
"How are you enjoying Christmas so far?"
"It's only been Christmas for 3 minutes."
"Well how have the last 3 minutes been?"
"Exceptionally good how have you 3 minutes of Christmas been so far?"
"Pretty great actually, I love Christmas it's my favorite holiday."
"Mine too, I always feel happy around Christmas time, and I get to see my whole family."
He laughed at my excitement and I felt myself blush
"Don't be embarrassed, I feel the same way about Christmas."
"Yeah well I'm not embarrassed..."
"So you randomly blush from time to time?"

I felt my face get all hot again; he must think I'm an idiot.

"I'm sorry; I didn't mean to embarrass you."
"You don't embarrass me; I'm just hot...I need some air."
I got up and made my way to the door, what was I doing I don't know how to act around guys.

"Kat wait up!"
I stop at the doorway and turn to look back, Marcus was making his way over to me.
"Why are you following me?"
"I don't want you to leave."
He was looking me straight in the eyes and I realized how close he was to me.

That's when I heard my older cousin Diana yell "Mistletoe!"

I look up and see the mistletoe hanging from the doorway me and Marcus were standing at. I look back at Marcus who was still looking at the mistletoe.
"I really have to go now. I'm sorry."
Marcus grabbed my waist and looked at me with a very intense look before leaning in and kissing me.
