FIFA World Cup 2010 Standings: Day 5

And finally day 5 of the FIFA World Cup 2010 was the day the Brazilians got into the action. A day packed with high expectations from the fans.
It was the day, 2 teams loved by many got to kick off their campaign. Brazil, who everyone is keeping a close watch on, kicked off their quest for the cup. Brazil are the only team to have played in all the football world cups. And then there was Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal. Let's see what transpired on day 5 of the FIFA World Cup 2010.

New Zealand 1 Slovakia 1 (Group F)
The game in Rustenburg saw Slovakia dominate for most part. And, yes, one would have expected them to get the better of New Zealand in the end. But a late goal from Winston Reid got New Zealand a much-needed draw, considering Group F is one of the toughest of them all.

Ivory Coast 0 Portugal 0 (Group G)
And Cristiano Ronaldo, probably the best player at present, kicked off Portugal's world cup campaign. But they could not break into the defense of Ivory Coast, and both teams played out a hard fought draw.

Brazil 2 Korea DPR 1 (Group G)
The margin of victory for Brazil was slim. Korea DPR made them work hard for a win and showed some good resilience. Though some Brazilian fans might argue that Brazil didn't push too hard and were content with a slender margin of victory. Now it's left to be seen whether Brazil will lift their game in the matches ahead, and what kind of problems Korea DPR will pose for the other teams in the competition.
