FIFA World Cup 2010 Standings: Day 4

Day 4 of the FIFA World Cup 2010 had a lot to look forward to. Defending champions Italy took to the field, and the Netherlands, who are dubbed as the most attacking team in the tournament, also were scheduled to get into the action...
Netherlands started their campaign with all the fans hopes high. Though they didn't seem like the team everyone thought them to be, they still managed to take home full points against Denmark. In another game, Japan scraped past a lackluster Cameroon to win their first world cup match outside their own country. The 3rd game of the day saw defending champions Italy take on Paraguay, and Italy will have to do much better than a draw that they got in this match, if they have any hope of retaining their title in the FIFA World Cup 2010.

Netherlands 2 Denmark 0 (Group E)
The Dutch had some pretty good warmup games, and came into the tournament with a lot of confidence. But they could not get their attacking game together against the Danes, and were actually lucky to come away with a 2 to nothing win.

Japan 1 Cameroon 0 (Group E)
Honda scored in the 39th minute for Japan which gave them their first world cup match victory outside their home soil. Cameroon are arguably the best African side in the tournament, and this loss would have stung them badly.

Italy 1 Paraguay 1 (Group F)
Marcello Lippi, the man in charge of Italy, won't be all that pleased. He was the one that guided Italy to winning the FIFA World Cup 2006. Italian star keeper Buffon could only play the first half due to a bad back, and would be hoping to be ready for the next game. A one all draw is not the start Italy were looking for, and they would have to start winning if they have any realistic hopes of laying their hands on the trophy again.
