FIFA World Cup 2010 Results: Netherlands in Finals

The Netherlands have beaten Uruguay to reach the finals of the FIFA World Cup 2010. This is their third appearance in a finals of a World Cup, a tournament they have never won...
The Dutch were always underachievers in world football. Even though they always showed up with a strong team for every major tournament, they always seem to falter in the crunch matches. But this time they have gone one step closer to shrugging off that tag. They overcame a good side from Uruguay to storm into the finals of the FIFA World Cup 2010. This is the third time they get a shot at the trophy, a chance they could not grab when they lost the finals to host nations West Germany and Argentina in 1974 and 1978 respectively. Though, this time it won't be the hosts as opposition, it will be a fellow European nation in the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

Netherlands 3 Uruguay 2
Holland came into this game with a purpose. They came with an aim to keep their World Cup hopes alive by not choking at the crucial games. Uruguay was hampered by injuries and suspensions to players. But they did not let that disadvantage deter them. In fact, in the first half, Uruguay was the team coming on tops in most of the possession duels. But the Dutch burst into an energetic ball in the second half, and 2 quick strikes into the net in the 70th and 73rd minutes saw them take a 2 goal lead. Uruguay pulled one back during injury time, and the end result was a 3-2 win for the Netherlands.
