Germany 4 Argentina 0
No one expected this to be such a one sided game. Germany ran through Argentina who looked like they needed to be woken up from their sleep. El Diego was nearly in tears at the sideline as his dream to win a world cup as a player and a coach fizzled off. Miroslav Klose scored twice and is now one goal away from Ronaldo's record of 15 goals in world cup matches. This, after the Dutch sent Brazil home, has been a tournament in which the European teams have done well, and have come out on top of the big South American giants.
Spain 1 Paraguay 0
This game had 2 penalties, strikes at the goalpost on numerous occasions, but it was only a late goal in the 85th minute by David Villa that saw Spain through. This being yet another game in which a European team sent a Latin American team home. Spain have been the underachievers in world football, and this win puts them in their first world cup semifinal in around 60 long years. David Villa has scored on five occasions now in this prestigious tournament.
