Fiberglass Shower Pans
Using smaller and cheap, do-it-yourself ideas, are always convenient for home improvement. Fiberglass shower pans are one of the do-it-yourself ideas that can be implemented to improve the interior of your bathroom.

Types of Fiberglass Shower Pans
The conventional shower pans are broadly classified into four categories.
- Standard Shower PanThe standard fiberglass shower has a very simple design. It is rectangular pan and has an outlet for the flow of water in the center. This type of fiberglass shower pan is a very convenient as it can be installed into shower enclosures with any dimensions. There are many sizes that are also available in the market in the standard fiberglass shower pan. Dirt and moisture accumulation that occurs in many shower pans is very unhygienic for health and reduces the life of the shower pan as it causes a lot of erosion. However, this accumulation is totally eliminated in the fiberglass shower pan as it does not have uneven corners.
- Corner Shower Pan: The corner shower pan is designed in such a way that it can be fitted into a very inconvenient place; the place where the walls of the bathroom meet each other at a right angle. Most companies that manufacture corner shower pans have made them into a pentagonal shape. This shape makes the shower pan look attractive and artistic.
- Corner Shower Pan with Seat: This is a very creative fiberglass shower pan design that manufacturers have come up with. In this type of design a small fiberglass seat has been installed in the corner of the fiberglass shower pan. However, the places where one can install this type of fiberglass shower pan are limited to the odd shape and structure.
- L/R Standard Shower Pan: These shower pans can be easily installed in the shower enclosures. The L/R standard shower pan resembles a standard pan. However it is shaped like a square (all its sides are equal) and the water outlet is situated to the extreme right or left.
Though the shower pans made of fiberglass are crack proof, they can be pretty delicate when it comes to corrosive cleaning agents and solutions. Hence one must avoid the usage of acidic or corrosive cleaning agents. It is advisable to use soft and normal cleaning agents for the pan. Another care that must be taken is that one must be very cautious while stepping on the pan that has just been washed with soap. The soap that may be left over on the surface of the pan acts as lubrication and will cause you to slip. Do not cut or modify the fiberglass pan while installing it. The material is just like carbon fiber. If it is cut or modified, the pan will start cracking and you will need to buy a new one. Lastly, if your fiberglass shower pan has odd corners and niches, clean them every week, as the moisture and small amounts of dirt that accumulate in such positions become a breeding grounds for germs.
