F. F. E.

My first flying experience;
Belatedly bestowed was this chance.
Air travel was my desire and dream.
Those days, it catered to society's cream.
Affordable days came at last.
In the list, I was first.
Captain announced bad weather.
I had set out with this fear.
Seat belts must remain fastened.
Signs indicated to sit in patience.
This was my maiden flight.
Turned real was my fright.
There was lots of turbulence.
Absolutely calm was the ambience.
Lights were dimmed.
Crew sat cross-legged.
They displayed least tension.
Passengers were watching television.
How could all be so relaxed?
This was making me perplexed!
I held tightly to my seat.
I was finding it difficult to breathe.
I felt as though the aircraft was flying upside down.
Mouth turned dry with the pile churning shakes of the airplane.
A young lady was my neighbor.
Her speech was softer than murmur.
My discomfort she could see.
She started speaking to me.
Her chat distracted my fear.
Slowly, my fear began to clear.
This was her intention.
She succeeded in her mission.
Thanks child, you understood my fear.
Come on uncle; please don't bother.
You are like my father.
My blessings would be always with you.
It was pleasure talking to you.
Saying this, she left.
After that, we never met.
I flew many times, later.
Bad weather was announced in speaker!
My composure became envy of first time fliers.
I tried alleviating their fears!
I am a frequent flier, you see?!
Very often, I am in the sky above the sea.
I miss my 'young' mentor!
She pulled me out of flying fear.
How well, she handled my psychosis?!
Psychiatrists will lose out on this!!!
