Festivals and Celebrations in India

There are varied cultures and religions abiding in India. The country is an amalgamation of different traditions, customs, castes and sub-castes. The country is linguistically and religiously based. Except for the metro cities there are specific states in the country which favor particular language or religion. Though Hindi is the official language of India it is preferred mostly in the Northern states and there are different languages preferred otherwise. Hinduism is widespread in India and almost 80% of the people follow Hinduism as their religion. Accordingly there are different festivals celebrated as per the region and the language spoken. Every festival is celebrated across the country but the specific importance is given in that particular region from where the festival originated.

There only very few festivals which are celebrated across the country with great enthusiasm; one of them being Raksha Bandhan. This is the festival which rejoices the bond between a brother and sister. This bond is unique in its own way. Your brother always fought with you but he was the one fighting for you if someone hurt you. Your sister always complained about you but she was the one supporting your decisions. It is a bond which says that ‘you are never alone. This festival is celebrated throughout the country by Hindus with great fervor. The commemoration of festivals has evolved over the years and even Raksha Bandhan has been colored in the new cultures. Rakhi Gifts for brothers and sisters have become a common affair.

Physical distance between siblings has grown and it has become difficult to take out time and rejoice this special bond on this occasion. Thus sending rakhi gifts online is a more viable option to gift your brother or sister. You could access a variety of online gifts shops and choose from varied gifts options and send them across anywhere you want to. There are many gifts for the brother such as gold/silver plated rakhis, clothing, perfumes, watches etc. For the sister, there gift vouchers, purses, perfumes, jewelery and much more to choose from. This year Raksha Bandhan is on 16th of August which is coming in between a extended weekend, so you can always take some time out and meet your sibling and rejoice the special bond. Your brother/sister doesn’t expect you to gift them lavishly. But you can always surprise them with a small token of love and even a simple gift would mean a lot of unsaid emotions.
