FBI Hiring Thousands of New Employees
Even in a troubled economy, the Federal Bureau of Investigations has announced that it will be hiring nearly three thousand new employees to support the Global War on Terror and other agency initiatives.
It may be time to polish your resume. Have you ever considered a career in law enforcement - perhaps as a Special Agent in the FBI? Now may be the best time in the history of the agency to apply to one of its open positions. With the right background and skill set, you are almost assured an opportunity to work within the FBI. The agency announced today that it will be hiring nearly 3000 new employees, including 850 special agents and over 2000 employees in other areas of support.
Since the 9/11 terrorist attacks, the FBI has tried to focus on bringing in linguistics experts and those with foreign language skills to help in intercepting and interpreting the communications of terrorist organizations around the world. They have also devoted resources to updating their technology infrastructure, but have faced criticism for moving too slowly in this area.
This announcement may come as a bit of a surprise to some, as the incoming Democratic administration is stereotypically viewed as less focused on defense. Clearly, this announcement is evidence to the contrary. The new Obama administration has stressed that it will be proactive in national defense strategies and this hiring blitz seems to be a strong indicator that they will be following through on those promises.
As the Global War on Terror continues to evolve around the world and new financial criminals emerge at home, the FBI is being stretched a little thin. This new wave of employees should help to ease the burden.
