Fathers Abuse Even Their Kids Who Are World Renown Stars

Child abuse has no limits, for even kids who are world renown stars come under attack.
The United Nations Convention on the Right of the Child declared that children everywhere have the right to live in safety and security. Yet millions across the world live under the long term effects of child abuse, with only very few organizations even considering the problem.

Child beating parents are very bad news wherever they are found, but there are occurrences where even children who have become world renown stars, are beaten, in what would seem to be an ongoing cycle of abuse.

Mohammed Ismail kicked and hit his ten-year-old son Azharuddin, witnessed by horrified neighbours and passers-by. Slumdog Millionaire star cried for his father to stop, as he tried to cower in a corner.

This episode occurred just after Azharuddin had flown back from Los Angeles where the film had earned eight Oscars. After the long flight, Asharuddin had been given the day off school to rest, but his father was determined to show him off to the neighbourhood. The ugly scene was in complete contrast to Azharuddin’s victoriuous return to the slum area, when his father had hoisted him high on his shoulder and strutted around with him like a valued trophy.

Several hours later Ismail apologized for the attack. Ismail suffers from tuberculosis.

The tennis champion who has won five WTA Tour titles, Jelena Dokic and reached a career-high by ranking fourth in 2002, recently spoke out in an interview, about how her father would regularly beat her during tennis tournaments.

Jelena broke from her family in 2002, so she could get away from the violence. However, the years following her escape were filled with mental turmoil and severe depression. She has had to struggle with her form, as well as her injuries and though currently ranked 74th in the world, is on a comeback.

When Damir Dokic was asked about the incidents, he said, "If a child, shows that they are talented in something, they should never be left alone. They should always be forced, I think even pushed into it. There are no limits." Damir Dokic openly declared the 2001 Open draw was fixed and said he would reomove Jelena out of the Australian Olympic Team. He was expelled from the US Open in 2000 for staff abuse over the amount of a salmon lunch. Dokic also nabbed headlines when he wrecked a journalist’s mobile phone at Wimbledon. In 1999 he was thrown out of a tournament after telling the match officials they were ‘Nazis’. He was then arrested after going into the street outside the arena, when he blocked traffic and jumped on the bonnet of a car.

Damir Dokic, who is renowned for his unpredictable behavior was recently arrested and detained in Serbia for supposedly threatening to fire a rocket at the Australian ambassador’s car in Belgrade, as vengeance for Jelena returning to Australia. Dokic says he is considering kidnapping his estranged daughter.

Two illegal bombs, plus seven licensed hunting rifles and a Beretta handgun, were discovered when a search was made of Dockic’s home in Fruska Gora.

Dokic was furious over the interview his daughter gave, declaring he beat her. Dokic aims to sell his farm, where he makes brandy and set up a tennis centre, where he will coach would-be tennis stars. Dokic was once a boxer. He was given the nickname of ‘Mad Dad’.
