The Father Closet
There is a secret place that we can find God...
There is a secret place
Where we can always come
Its wonders are all listed
In Psalm Chapter 91
"Where is the secret place?"
My heart would long to know
Until one day I realized,
"T'was the Mighty God's abode!"
I'd learned to come so often
To the Father with my cares
When doubting, nagging thoughts
Would catch me unawares.
All the while I wished to pray
In a quiet, secret place
But my closets were so full
There just wasn't any space
Then one day I heard a voice
Quite tenderly and low,
"I know about your Father Closet,
I know it's where you go."
The voice was rich and warm & sweet
I knew it was my friend
"You mean the one I wish I had"
I answered back again.
The sweetness of His presence
Made me feel so much at home
Yet I wondered at His strange remark
And hoped He wouldn't go
"The place where you are now", He said
"The closet that you have"
"Well, I've been here before", I thought
Not knowing what I had.
People filled the room
But no one seemed to know
That I was in a secret place
Deep within my soul
"What a place to be!" I said
"I'll never have to leave!"
"I'll always have this secret place
Where You will always be!"
All the people went to go,
Good-byes were being said.
I gathered up my things
And went out on ahead.
"I know where you are going next!"
The cheery voice proclaimed -
Thoughts of home ran through my mind
And the closet which was crammed
Then, at once, I knew!
"I have a secret place to be!
My Father has a closet!
His dwelling place in me!"
