Fate - Ch.9
Korey's legacy comes out...
"This place has so much tourist attractions. I might just live here," Rosie happily said.
Korey watched Rosie walk around the block with the skin tight clothes. He wants to touch her, but he kept his distance.
"My legs are tired, what time is it?" Rosie asked.
Korey looked around for a clock and found one, "six o'clock."
"That late! Man, this place is amazing."
"Do you want to go out for supper?"
"Sure. Where?" Rosie asked.
Korey walked over to a restaurant and opened the door.
The waitor smiled and helped them. Their table out by the back where nobody can see them. They ordered and the waitor left.
"What are the tattoos for?" Rosie pointed out, tracing the unique patterns up his arm, making him growl.
"Nothing, decoration."
"I don't think it's nothing, I think it suits you," Rosie smiled.
Korey stared at his arm, seeing the serpent tattoo curl around his arm, the skull, and the chain links around his wrist. Her fingers stopped at an unusual mark; it's dark red and it's the shape of a star.
"Is that a tattoo?"
"No," he sighed. "It's my birthright."
"Birthright?" Rosie softly said and stared at him.
"It's for the family legacy. Us Nights are born leaders, my fahter right now is the leader, then it was his dad, and it keeps going on from there. My family was strict about having one child, but my grandpa and grandma broke the tradition, then things started to happen. My father and uncle, they fought over who's going to step up to be in charge. Centuries passed, Thomas, Ian, and I was born, and my uncle and aunt was found and killed by their local neighborhood, and Ian died alongside them. By that time, I was thirty, knowing I had the birthright, but I offered it to Thomas. He didn't want anything to do with the family after his family's deaths, so he moved far away, leaving me the legacy."
Her fingers slid down his arm and went into his hand. The story made her depressed.
"Now my father is thinking on giving up the leadership to me, he's going to be sixhundred seventy-seven next month; getting old, but he still in good shape," Korey's fingers tightened around her's.
"Not to be nosey, but, how old are you?"
"Three hundred twenty-one," he whispered.
The waitor came over, and served the food to Korey and Rosie. He smiled and walked away.
"So, when do you think you're getting this leadership?"
"Maybe a year, few days, weeks; dunno. I hope that I don't have to do it for along time," Korey sighed.
"What will happen to me? You can't run your family and keep an eye on me the same time."
Korey broke eye contact and sighed heavily. He looked at his chicken sandwich and lost his appetite.
Rosie's heart ached when she sensed Korey's saddness. She took a bite of her salad, and kept her eye contact away from Korey.
"Korey! Thomas told us you're in town," a lady said; black long hair, short with green eyes.
"Mom, dad; why are you here?" Korey smoothly said.
"We are on vacation, and we were visiting Thomas and his family. He told us you were here, so we came looking," said the woman.
"Who is this young lady?" said tghe guy.
"Dad, this is Rosie Tate, a friend of mine."
"She smells more than a friend, son," the lady said.
"Korey, you're not following tradition," he growled.
Korey quickly got up and pulled Rosie beside him, his grip firmed.
"She is part of my life. We made love once and I gave her blood when she needed it. You're not running my life, and if you don't give me the leadership, so be it," Korey sternly said.
"You really love this girl. Whatever, you know what's necessary. I hope to see you soon," then they left.
Korey's grip tightened and he started to walk away.
"Korey," Rosie whispered.
"Shh, don't listen to my parents. If I don't get ladership, so be it. As long as I have you in my life, I'm happy."
Rosie placed her head on his shoulder and they walked out of the restaurantwith some peace of mind.
