If you're a speed freak then you must have surely seen the Fast and the Furious series, multiple times. And every time you must have thought of getting one of those mean machines. Well, I feel so every time I happen to watch these movies time and over again. The throttle, the NOS, the RPM needle never going down, the smoke, the noise, it just boosts the adrenaline. Well, not all of these so-called fastest cars are in production. Most of them are custom-made, modified or concept cars, while very few are in production.

The Bugatti Veyron still reigns the list and is the fastest production car. This mad machine can reach a whooping 267 mph and 0-6 in a mere 2.5 secs! Phew! It has been tested time and over again, but this speed machine loves to be at the top. This monster has an 8.0 liter W16 Engine with sixteen cylinders and produces 1001 metric horsepower (736 kW and 987 bhp). Can we ask for more? If you want to see this beast in your garage you will have to shell out approx. $1,700,000. One of the most expensive cars in the world.

SSC Ultimate Aero
Next in the list is the SSC Ultimate Aero, which had the reputation of being at the number one position for world's speediest production car, until recently when Bugatti Veyron took over. Yes, the Ultimate Aero was at the top and was ruling, but now it is at the second spot. This monster has a Twin-Turbo V8 Engine and 1183 hp. It can reach up to top speed of 257 mph and 0-6 in just 2.7 secs! Its price is approx. $650,000.

Saleen S7 Twin Turbo
On the third spot is the S7 Twin Turbo. The car has got a powerful Twin-Turbo V8 Engine with engine capacity 7000c which delivers 750 bhp at 6300 rpm! It's a two-seat coupe and its light weight body boosts its performance because it is made up of carbon fiber and aluminum. Top speed is 248 mph and 0-60 in 3.2 secs. The car looks great and it can be yours for approx. $555,000.

Koenigsegg CCX
Koenigsegg has been making super machines since quite a long time. The Koenigsegg CCX is the successor of Koenigsegg CCR which also was on the list of fastest cars during its time. 'CCX' stands for 'Competition Coupe X'. This Sweden made car is quite a looker and has exceptional design. Its heart is made up of Supercharged V8 engine with capacity of 4700cc. It can produce 806 bhp at 6900 rpm. Top speed is 245 mph and 0-60 in 3.2 secs. Approx price $545,000.

McLaren F1
One of the most popular sports cars manufacturer McLaren's F1 is next on the list. McLaren has been always on the top 10 fastest cars list and during its initial years it used to be at the top. Now, it is one amongst them though not at the top. The F1 from McLaren has got a 6 liter V12 Engine, 6064cc and is able to produce 627 bhp at 7400 rpm. It is a 2-door 3-seat coupe and price is approx. $900,000 - 1,000,000.

There are many other supersonic machines out there, few of which are concept, few are custom-built, while few others are in production. Getting one of these mean machines is simple if you've got a six or a seven-figure salary! While for others, if you want your automobile to transform into a fastest street car, I would suggest that upgrading the engine and a little custom job will do the trick, and will not be as costly as getting one of these listed above.
