Amy Jade Winehouse was born on 14-9-1983. She is an English jazz and soul singer as well as songwriter. She is from Enfield, North London. She was prized by Mercury Music Prize for her debut album Frank in 2003. She was awarded by Ivor Novello in 2004 for her debut single "stronger than me". In 2006, she released her second album "Back to Black". She was also awarded by Best British Female Artist in 2007.
She was born in English-Jewish family. Her family members were jazz musician. She raised in the suburb of Southgate, north London, and joined Ashmole school. She founded a short lived amateur rap group called sweet ‘n’ sour at the age of 10.
At the age of 12 she joined Sylvia young theatre school but was expelled at the age of 13 for piercing her own nose. She joined BRIT School in Selhurst, Caroydon.
She used to listen diversified music of various range. She bought guitar at the age of 13. She started professional singer at the age of 16. She was given a demo tape by her friend Tyler James. She signed her contract with 19 Management. Working with Salaam Remi she wrote so many jazz-influenced songs. This album received so many complements from people. This occurrence brought her in comparison of Sarah Vaughan and Macy Gray.
