Fantasy Story
Joylin Summers was an ordinary teenage girl whose life gets turned upside down when she meets a new student at her school, the mysterious and handsome Caleb Jackson...
Joylin Summers was on her way to school on a typical Monday morning in September. The weather was its usual nice morning temperature around 70 °F. The sky was a mixture of pale blue and deep pink as the sun was about to rise above the horizon. Joylin knew that she would be early to arrive at school, but that didn't bother her at all.
She liked sitting on one of the numerous benches that were scattered around the schoolyard in between the buildings, and just soak up the quietness before the grounds were filled with chattering students and stressed out teachers trying not to spill their coffee as they hurried towards their classrooms. Joylin closed her eyes and filled her lungs with the cool air.
As she slowly exhaled, she opened her eyes and they locked with another pair that belonged to a guy who she hadn't seen before on campus. His bright blue eyes bore into hers, rooting her to her place, making her unable to move a muscle.
His toned body looked tense and his hands were clenched into balls almost making him look like he was trying not to punch something, or someone. Joylin tried to look away, to focus on something else, anything else, but she failed miserably. The looks that the guy gave her, made her want to run away and hide forever. She felt like she was naked, stripped of all her clothes and that he was seeing right through her, straight into her soul, and it appeared that he did not like what he saw, which made Joylin even more confused. As if something had shocked him, like he'd grabbed onto an electric fence, his gaze that locked Joylin into place, jerked away and he strode off in a hasty pace, in the direction of the main office building.
Joylin hadn't realized that she was panting until she heard her own breath get caught in her throat. Her heart was racing as if she was trying to win 100 meter race at the world championship. She gasped out loud in surprise, looking around franticly to see if anyone had seen the strange encounter between her and the blue-eyed guy, if you could even call it that. She could quickly establish that the grounds were still deserted only one other car was in the parking lot at least that was the only car she was able to see from her place overlooking parts of the lot.
Joylin felt a chill running down her spine, which had nothing to do with the weather, seeing as it was getting warmer as the sun climbed higher up on the sky. She shook her body and convinced herself that she was just being silly. Joylin tried to shrug off that odd feeling as the parking lot began to slowly fill up with cars, models ranging all from old 80's Chevy trucks to sparkling brand new Lexus'. Franklin High School was a normal sized school with approximately 2300 students, and Joylin was only friends with one.
She didn't think about it much, but sometimes she caught herself thinking how it would feel if she was a normal girl with normal hobbies and friends, for example a cheerleader or a member of the drama club, where she would have a lot more friends and have fun every day. She would be able to worry about the shallowest things like, what if that guy I've crushed on for only a day doesn't like me or, what should I wear today and so on. But she couldn't, and she probably never would be able to. She had a dark cloud hovering above her head every day, afraid that every single moment it would burst and everything would be coming tumbling down upon her.
Joylin was sitting in the classroom as she prepared herself for yet another boring day in Mr. Williams' math class, listening to his nonstop babble about his excitement for calculators, and how you practically didn't need anything else to solve a problem. However, Joylin thought, a calculator couldn't solve his problem of finding a girlfriend, let alone a date. He probably scared all the women away when he tried to explain to them the wonders of the little machines. Joylin had begun doodling in her notebook as she usually did in this particular class when Mr. Williams came in, but something was different about him, and he wasn't alone.
