Famous Soccer Players from Argentina
One of the highly loved and respected sports in the world is soccer. And a short profile of some of the most famous soccer players from Argentina has been presented in this article.

Best Argentine Soccer Players
Diego Maradona
To me, when we mention Argentina, the first person which comes to my mind is Diego Maradona; truly acclaimed as among the best soccer players in the world. His popularity was so huge that he finished first in an Internet voting poll for the FIFA Player of the Century award. This award, he shared with another legendary figure, Pele. Maradona has to his name the glory of being the captain of Argentina and leading his team to its victory in the final of the 1986 FIFA World Cup. He was honored with the Golden Ball award as the tournament's best player. Several similar awards and recognition sing the name of this great player who retired on his 37th birthday in 1997. Currently, he is manager of the Argentine national team.
Carlos Tevez
Another hero of the Argentinian team is Carlos Tevez. He has been attributed by Maradona himself as "Argentine prophet for the 21st century". Popularly known as El Apache, Carlos, apart from being one of the best Argentine soccer players, is also known for his humble and firm personality. During his childhood, Tevez suffered third degree burns due to boiling water. This left the boy with a scar that runs down his neck from his right ear to the chest. After he joined professional football, he was advised to get rid of the scar with the help of cosmetic surgery. In common situations, most players would have gone ahead with the surgery, but Tevez didn't. He was of the opinion that the scar reminds him of being real, his past, and who he is in the present.
Sergio Aguero
This famous Argentine soccer player showed his mettle playing for the Argentine Olympic team, but he has also been a key player for his team in the World Cup. His nick name is Kun and he was named so after a Japanese anime character Kum Kum. Sergio became the youngest player to participate in the Argentine First Division. He was then 15 years and 35 days old. With this appearance, Sergio broke the record of Deigo Maradona who, incidentally now, is his father-in-law.
Martin Palermo
Martin Palermo is currently eighth in the list of all time career goals for the Argentine League. Also known as "El Loco", he now plays for Boca Juniors of Argentina. Palermo is exclusively known for his impressive goal average and outstanding performances in international matches. What took this man to the peak of success was his performance in the Intercontinental Cup in 2000. He managed two goals, leading Boca to victory over Real Madrid.
Lionel Messi
Winner of prestigious awards and nominations such as, the FIFA World Player of the year and Ballon d'Or. This man has neatly made his way into not only the list of the famous soccer players from Argentina but also that of the best players in the world. Currently a part of Barcelona and the Argentine national team, Lionel has been nominated by the legendary Maradona as his "successor". The 2008-09 season happens to be the most rewarding phase of Lionel's life. With a total of 6 goals, Messi became the top scorer of the 2005 FIFA World Youth Championship.
There are several other important aspects about the life of these great men. If this description runs short of information, then you may always turn to other trusted sources such as books.
