Famous American Musicians
United States is very well known for its contributions to the field of music. Many American musicians have displayed their skill and provided good entertainment. We take a look at some famous American musicians.
Michael Jackson
On August 29, 1958 Michael Jackson was born in Gary, Indiana. His father was Joseph Walter and mother was Katherine Esther. In 1964 he joined the Jackson Brothers which was a musical band formed by brothers Jermaine, Tito and Jackie. In 1982 he produced the song ‘Someone in the Dark’ for the movie ‘E.T’. This song won a Grammy for Best Album for Children. The same year he released the album ‘Thriller’. In 1983 he performed live on the ‘Motown 25: Yesterday, Today, Forever’ television program. In 1987 Jackson released the album ‘Bad’ which consisted of seven hit singles. Five of them went to number one on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. In 1991 he released the album ‘Dangerous’. The single ‘Black or White’ was the album’s biggest hit. It was number one on the Billboard Hot 100 for seven weeks.
Madonna
On August 16, 1958 Madonna was born in Bay City, Michigan. Her father was Silvio P. Ciconne and mother was Madonna Louise. She signed a singles contract with Sire Records in 1982. Her debut album was ‘Madonna’. In 1986 she released her album ‘True Blue’. In 1987 she produced four songs to the soundtrack of the movie ‘Who’s that girl’. She released the song ‘Like a Prayer’ in 1989. In 1990 she released ‘I’m Breathless’ which had the number one single ‘Vogue’. Madonna released 'The Immaculate Collection' in November 1990 which featured the two songs 'Rescue Me' and 'Justify My Love'. In 2007 she released the song ‘Hey You’.
Jennifer Lynn Lopez
She is one of the famous American musicians and is also known as J.Lo. She is not only a singer but also a good songwriter, dancer, actress and record producer. Lopez was born on July 24, 1969 and is one of the richest Latin American descents in America. Her debut album ‘ On the 6’ released on 1st June, 1999 became an instant hit and was ranked one among the top ten of the Billboard 200 Chart. A few of the songs included in the album where 'Waiting for Tonight’ and ‘If You Had My Love’. Her second album was released in 2001, January 23 and was rated as number one in Billboard 200. In 2002, Jennifer Lopez released her re-mix album known as ’J to tha L-O!: The Remixes’.
Elvis Presley
Born on January 8, 1935, Elvis Aaron Presley was one of the most popular and famous American singer and musician. He was mostly recognized by his first name and was known as ‘The King of Rock ‘n’ Roll’ or simply as ‘The King’. Elvis was one of the initial performers of Rockabilly. He got his breakthrough when his songs ‘My happiness’ and ‘That’s When Your Heartaches Begin’ was a master hit of all times in 1953, July 18. Another hit Presley gave was in January, 1956 which included the songs ‘Heartbreak Hotel and I was the One’. Same Year on March 23rd, his first album which had majority of country songs was released. It was known by his own name ‘Elvis Presley’. He became very popular among the teens after the release of ‘That’s All Right’ and he was considered as a ‘Cultural Icon’.
