The fallopian tubes are structures that are a part of the female reproductive system. These are tubes that play the role of transporting the egg from the ovary to the uterus. Salpingostomy
Salpingostomy is a surgical procedure which is performed via a laparoscopy/laparotomy or it may even be done under general anesthesia for some patients. In a laparotomy an incision is made on the abdominal wall and then, through this incision, the fallopian tubes are visualized. An incision is made on the surface of the fallopian tube. Then, if the blockage or obstruction is due to an ectopic pregnancy, the conception products will be removed and the pathway of the fallopian tube will be cleared. To control the bleeding, drugs like vasopressin can be employed.

Neosalpingostomy
At the point where the fallopian tubes start near the ovary, there are small finger like projections present known as fimbriae. Sometimes, there is formation of a hydrosalpinx, wherein the fimbriae get stuck to one another, due to which it closes off the tube and the egg cannot enter it when it is released from the ovary. In this case, the blocked fallopian tube treatment involves a surgery, which is known as a neosalpingostomy, wherein the hydrosalpinx is opened up, so that an opening is created in the tube. Although there may be relief from the various blocked fallopian tubes symptoms, the success rate of this type of surgery is relatively low.

Salpingolysis
As mentioned earlier, when there are adhesions and other such obstructions present at the junction of the tube and the uterus, then there are higher chances of a successful surgery. In such cases, the fallopian tube blockages that are present is broken down, so as to restore the patency of the fallopian tubes.

Tubal Reanastomosis
This surgical procedure includes removing the damaged part of the tubes, that is removed due to the adhesions and then, rejoining of the healthy parts of the fallopian tubes. This surgery is the fallopian tube blockage treatment of choice for cases where there is an adhesion present in the central portion of the tube, that is, mid-way in its length.

Microsurgery
Many people say that the best surgical option when it comes to fallopian tubes blockage treatment is to opt for a microsurgery. In this surgical procedure, a microscope is used for magnification and then, small and delicate surgical instruments are used to maneuver the way through surgery. This ensures that there is minimum amount of trauma that is inflicted on the tissues and so, there is minimum amount of scarring.

There are a few risks associated with surgical treatment of a blocked fallopian tube and the success rate of these surgeries also varies greatly from one patient to another. One of the complications of fallopian tube blockage treatment with the help of surgery is an increased risk of ectopic pregnancy. This is because the scar and adhesions that are generated increase the chances of a fertilized egg getting attached at these points. Hence, many people nowadays, tend to prefer going in for in vitro fertilization instead. Although IVF is an expensive option, many people have been left with no option but IVF to experience the joy of conception and a subsequent successful pregnancy.
