Fall Activities For Preschoolers

Fall is a fun time for all of us. Even preschoolers enjoy autumn a lot because they get a chance to learn various crafts and activities related to fall. Here are some activities for preschoolers to help them enjoy and learn at the same time...
Finally the much awaited fall has arrived! The days are shorter and the nights are cooler, the leaves have turned to brilliant yellow and red. The awesome looking trees give a colorful salute to the summer season. Signs of autumn are everywhere and it's time to start some of the amazing fall activities. Who else but the preschoolers are the most excited this time of the year. Here are some fall activities for preschoolers, that will definitely add to the extra fun and enjoyment element in their routine.

Outdoor Activities
With the advent of fall, the images of leaves changing colors and the change of seasons before the long winter ahead, comes to our mind. While this is what we imagine about autumn, the actual picture depends on our geographic location. You can plan for some outdoor preschool activities depending on the climate. Nature walks, fall gardening, apple picking and visiting pumpkin farms are some of the outdoor activities for preschoolers.

A nature walk can be made into a really exiting activity with loads of fun as well as learning. The cooler temperature will make the walk more enjoyable. Take along a bag to pick up leaves while you go on a nature walk. Ask kids to pick up leaves of all sizes, shapes and colors. Tell the children to examine them. You can tell them to write down what they see and help them in this exercise. Apple picking is one of the most fun filled fall activities for preschoolers. Though not every location will have bountiful apple orchards, if you are near one, just check it out with the kids. Preschoolers will love picking apples from the ground. Keep a damp cloth handy to clean the apples, in case one of your preschoolers feel hungry.

Indoor Activities
There are many craft ideas for preschoolers, especially for fall, which they will surely enjoy working on. These arts and crafts activities require simple materials which are easily available and the preschoolers can safely handle it.

Fall Tree
Cut out leaf shapes from the construction paper. Drop autumn colored paint on each shape. Make sure each shape is the same, though the size may vary a little. Fold these paper leaves in half and press lightly. Now open them to reveal a fun pattern. Make a number of such leaves. Make a cut-out of a tree trunk and branches. Glue the leaves on to the cut-out of tree trunk and branches and your own fall tree is ready. This is an easy paper craft activity for the preschoolers.

Leaf Mosaic
Collect some fall leaves and place them in a big bowl. Now ask children to scrunch up these leaves with their hands. Children can now sprinkle the crunched leaves onto a paper leaf shape using glue to make a unique leaf mosaic.

Leaf Tracing
For this fall activity you will need fall leaves, piece of drawing paper and crayons. Remember, real fall leaves can be fragile, so you can opt to purchase leaves from a craft store. Just lay the drawing paper over the leaf and then rub over with red and yellow crayons. The pattern from the leaf will transfer to the paper and form a beautiful leaf. The sheet can be laminated and be a part of the fall decor in the kids' room.

Pumpkin Decoration
This is one of the most popular crafts for preschoolers. For pumpkin decoration no carving is required. Still you can do the carving part and give the pumpkin to the kids for further decoration. Preschoolers can decorate this pumpkin by painting over it with various colors. They can also glue pine cones, leaves, twigs, stickers or buttons on the pumpkin. You can always think of new activities with a little imagination. For more fun, you can draw a funny face cut-out on a construction paper and then ask the children to glue it on the pumpkin.
