Fairytales Can Happen - Part 1
This story is about a sad girl who trusts no one. Until someone comes into her life and she is beginning to wonder if he is the one for her, the one person she can trust. Based on a true story
As the day drug on, I began to wonder if anyone had noticed that I was sad today. Maybe I'm to good at hiding it. People always tell me that your true friends will notice when something is bothering you. I guess I don't have any true friends, no one noticed.
"Hey." Oh god, it was him. He was so cute, I liked him a lot, but I was just so ugly. His name was Darron. He was a senior, a hot senior.
"Hey." I said shyly looking at the floor. I continued to walk towards the buses. He was keeping up next to me.
"Your name is Keyarra right?" He asked smiling at me.
"Keya." I croaked. I was nervous.
"Why do you go by Keya? Keyarra is so much prettier."
"Keya is a lot shorter and the teachers can actually spell it right." I hope he doesn't think I'm stupid.
"True."
I stopped to wait for the approaching bus. He stopped and turned towards me. I looked shyly at him. He smiled at me. We had been hanging out at lunch. He would beckon me over to join him and his crazy friends. Yet it was still awkward around him.
"So.....uh.....Can I get your number?" He said nervously. My eyes got large in excitement and surprise. "If you don't wanna give it or..."
"Oh, no, here, let me put it in." Darren handed over his phone. The buses stopped and let out air loudly. I quickly went into his contacts and added my number under Keya. I gave his phone back to him.
He looked at the new contact as I stared at the buses. "Keya?" He said with a smirk on his face.
"Yea." I said looking back at him.
"You spell your name k,e,y,a,r,r,a right?"
My eyes got big again, this time in astonishment. "Yes, how did you know?!"
"That's how I'd spell it." He smiled that smile that made my heart skip a few beats. That certain smile lighted up his face and my blackened heart. "Well, I gotta catch my bus, it is way up there." He pointed up the street. "Where is yours?"
"Way down there." I pointed to the other end of the street.
"Well you better catch your bus, I'll see you tomorrow during lunch, I'll text you later too." He smiled and began to walk towards his bus. My heart stopped and time stopped for a moment. Time continued as a bus stopped and blew out air. I shook my tired head and began to walk towards my bus.
My phone buzzed in my pocket. Was it him? I dug it out while surfing through the crowd of high schoolers. One new message, from Nikki. Disappointment flashed across my face. I sighed and opened the text, already knowing what it said.
WANNA HANG OUT TODAY?
Everyday, as soon as school let out or when I was on the bus, I'd get this message. I scanned my brain for the information if my mom was working today. If she was, I wasn't allowed out of the house. It'd be five hours of alone time at the house for tonight, I believe she is working today. I texted Nikki, CAN'T, MOM IS WORKING GOTTA STAY HOME TODAY SORRY
I slid my phone back down and boarded my bus. Like always, it was jam packed. I felt like a ball of white filling in a spongy metal twinky. I sat in front of my two friends, Sarah and Katey with a huff. Sarah patted my head and I tried to bite her fingers. To my friends, I was a dark leopard, currently untamed and unowned. Darren knew that too. He probably thinks I'm crazy.
"Bad kitty!" Sarah said smiling. Her braces were pretty. I hissed at her and turned around. She bent herself over the front of her seat and said,"Why is kitty in a bad mood?"
"Kitty has been ignored all day." It was the sad truth.
"Awe, I'm sorry. I love you kitty!" She smiled wide. My phone buzzed in my hand. One new message from Nikki.
"Love you too." Truthfully, I didn't. I don't love any of my friends. None of them can be trusted. I barely love my mother, let alone loving a stranger. These people just tossed the word love around like a frisbee. Didn't these people understand that love is an emotion, you gotta actually feel it in order to use it. That's why only one of my ex boyfriends have been told I love you.
I slid open my phone to view Nikki's text, even though I had a hunch on what it said. DARN I REALLY WANTED TO HANG OUT TODAY! My hunch was correct. I replied a hearty SRRY and slid my phone down. I wedged it back into my jean pocket. She won't text back, if she did it would be, it's okay. What if Darren texted? I sat there, staring ahead, thinking of him. If my phone buzzed, I'll pull it out.
