Fad diets have come to age and it seems they are making a huge impact on people and not always in a positive way. Fad diets are designed to help people lose weight fast and usually not in a healthy way.

Common fad diets:

A liquid diet restricts you from having any sort of solid food or eatables. It suggests the inclusion of only liquid juices etc. whenever you feel hungry. This manner may ensure that you lose weight, if you cope with this regime regularly, but the moment you start eating back, the lost pounds would start showing. Reason for the same is that your body is no more accustomed to digest the solid diet. Also this fad diet doesn't provide your body with necessary vitamins and nutrients.

The cabbage soup and the ice cream diet is a fad diet that limits the food you eat to only that certain food. It is essential for your body to receive certain amounts of vitamins and nutrients daily and you cannot get that if you are only eating one type of food. This type of diet actually limits your intake of calories at which point your
metabolism slows down and although you might lose weight, you will not lose fat.

There is a myth that says if an individual takes in high amounts of protein it will reduce weight and build good muscle tone. The fact is muscles are built with weight training, not by eating high protein diets. It should also be mentioned that such as this may cause serious kidney and or liver damage and it not recommended.

For the body to stay healthy it needs a balanced supply of vegetables and fruits, along with protein and carbohydrates. Fad diets are restrictive and although you will lose weight quickly you will not be the healthy person you desire to be.
