Jame's POV
Tears were falling down both my cheeks as I saw them lower Zayn's casket into the ground. His mother, who now has no one left, sat on the floor in a wreck. Buck had crouched down by her, his arm wrapped around her shoulders to console her. My whole family had also come to show their respect and where standing behind me along with buck's family and Steffi's. Steffi stood in the crowd amongst all our families. A lot of the boys and girls from school had showed up. Some of which I didn't even know Zayn knew, but his mother had invited everyone she felt Zayn would want here so who was I to question it.
It'd been dreadful when we found him.
His mother had to break down the door to enter (I never thought she would be that strong but I guess her motherly instinct took over). But as soon as it was open we both raced in. His mother just stood there in shock on seeing his limp body laying there. The carpet around him stained with a mix of blood and potion. His eyes were fully black but the lack of life in them made them look like black holes. And this time Ava saw it.
I walked up to his body and took his arm, I had known on seeing him there was little hope but my hands still rushed around his wrist searching for a pulse.
I'd made sure to tell her everything, about the troll blood, the potion and even about Zayn's Farther. She wasn't shocked, surprise, angry of any of the emotions I had expected. But at first her face actually showed relief. She'd explained to me that Zayn's behavior over the past weeks had her worried he was on drugs (which wasn't entirely untrue) and that she'd spend the last few weeks arranging for psychologists to see him. Plus this news brought her some peace of mind towards Richard. But her relief was soon flushed away by the fact she no longer had anyone. And since then she's spend her whole life locked in my families guest room - she couldn't stand the sight of her house right now as it forced back all the memories of her past. We'd had to drag her out today and she still wore the same clothes she had on the day we found his body.
Buck and I had been round to Zayn's house thought to tidy out his bedroom. His body had been removed by the doctors (who we'd asked to look over his body) the day before but the room still stank of Zayn. As I was working through his wardrobe and Buck though his desk he called me over
"James..." his voice made me jump seeing as we'd spend the last go knows how long in silence "you might want to see this"
"What?" I asked horrified as to what he might have found that had forced him into speech.
"Turn around" he ordered and I did as I was told. Now facing the mirror I saw Buck as he walked up behind me. He gathered my hair in his hands and indicated for me to hold it back for him. Again I did as I was told. His muscular arms lifted as he twisted a light silver chain around my neck. As soon as I saw the delicate charm, its silver based formed into two beautiful outstretched wings and held four rich gemstones. On the tip of each wing a simple colorless sapphire, the same gem as my mother's wedding wing which I've loved and longed for years), then underneath - again on each wing - a dark Peridot, which shone the same green as Zayn's stunning eyes.
"A collana" I gasped behind tears putting my hand up to the charm. At that moment I broke down, just like Ava had when we found his body, I collapsed to the floor shivering viciously, a river of tears falling from my already swollen eyes. Before I realized I had told buck about me, about being a faerie and in return he told me he was a werewolf. We spent the rest of that day sitting there in Zayn's room, passing stories of Zayn.
I worn the Collana now, and had done everyday since. Along with a plain, slightly fitted black dress which was layered on top with another dress made fully from black lace. Then on my feet a simple pair of black suede heels.
We had chosen to bury Zayn next to his father in the London, graveyard near my aunties and uncles flat. Which I'd found out was a graveyard purely for supernatural beings and had symbols on each grave to show what kind of supernatural being you were. Zayn's had a wide open eye just like all the other troll graves had, including his father who he lay next to. Then the grave on the other side of Zayn's had a full moon which I assumed was to represent werewolves. I had search but was yet to find a symbol that reached out to me as being faerie.
When the Casket tapped the bottom of the grave my whole body shock at the impact - though I'm pretty sure it was just in my head. They asked if anyone wanted to make a speech, and although I knew Ava had written a long, long one that she has folded in her purse, she was in too much of a wreck to read it out. Buck, who was still consoling her, lifted up and reached into her purse and took out the Speech. He gave a silent nod to the priest (a Warlock, who I had to search the internet for ages to find as I knew he'd be okay with the whole troll thing - of course half of the guests didn't know about Zayn's troll blood so it couldn't be mentioned anyway) and Buck took to where the priest had recently stood
His voice trembled slightly as he read the carefully written words. "Zayn... my son, my boy." at this he smirked and managed to pull a smile out of us all. He looked up from the paper and faced the crowd "Ermm, I'm going to edit it now to make it sound right coming from me..." at this he turned his head back down to the page "his mother loved him more than words could say. And I know his father did too." He took a pause before continuing. "I want to talk about how what he was like. He was always the happiest person I knew. He never wanted anything, and always kept a cheerful smile on his face. Even when the bad things happened, like His dad leaving, but Zayn always kept a smile on, and urged me to be happy... Then he hit his teens." Buck smiled weakly
"You all know how guys are when they 'turn' teenager" he laughed at the amount of nods coming from parents in the crowd. "I remember Zayn got in so much trouble at school, but I knew Ava always loved him" a harmonic 'aw' came from around me "Recently He dyed his hair red" Buck said adding a personal bit to the speech "Ava put him on total lock down until he dyed it back. But I Know Ava loved him just the same and Zayn loved her the same too" the smile fell from his face "then he started changing. He started being secretive, skipping lessons - though I quite enjoyed joining him at those times." He laughed "But the one person who stuck by him all the way and who he knew he could turn too, his girlfriend. So we all just want to thank you, James, for being there for him, even in the end. When all hope was lost, and he may have only seen one way out but you stayed positive always helping him through. Wherever you are Zayn" at this buck looked up into the sky - he's so theatrical "Your mother wants you to know, she doesn't hate you for what you did. And that she loves you... she always has and always will. She hopes you forgive her for everything.
"Bye Mate. I'll see ya in another life bother" Buck making a lost quote. Yet another of his amazing way to make people smile even in the worse situations.
"Zayn and I watched lost together" buck explained when he walked up to me after the ceremony "we liked the hot girls in it" he winked. "I liked Sun myself, he always liked Kate though... she looks a little like you actually"
"Thanks buck" I smiled
"What for?" he raised his eyebrows
"Everything" I said and kissed him on the cheek - as a friend.
15 years on...
"That's me and your father at our wedding, and our honeymoon. Aww look at your brother there" I pointed out the various pictures to my eldest daughter, Elise-May, as we looked though our families photo albums.
Alex and I have been happily married for 10 years now. And had 3 beautiful children, our eldest (age 7) a boy, who we named Zayn after our long lost friend (and my ex), Then 2 daughters Elise-may(age 4) and Carissa(just 2 month olds) - all adopted, as apparently faeries and werewolves can't have children and every child I've been expecting so far has died before birth.
I was currently pointing at a photo of Zayn when he was 5, we adopted him at age 3, the photo is him standing outside the local music store longing for an ebony acoustic guitar, he's just like my old Zayn. He even has the striking blond hair with green eyes.
I still wore Zayn's Collana, which still remained in great condition, though now I also wore Zayn's mothers collana, she'd passed short after Zayn did - depression force her into not eating resulting in anorexia and soon after death. I'd wanted to bury her with the collana but I didn't seem right that its beauty should go unnoticed. So I had it turned into a locket. Inside I had a picture of Ava and her late husband, Richard. When I pass each of my daughters will inherit one of the necklaces and hopefully pass it on to their daughters too.
All our children new about our Supernatural blood, though none of them had any. My youngest girl was amazed by my wings. And the other was in training with Alex to make herself as strong as any wolf. She's only 4 but already with these dreams of power.
"Hey beautiful" I heard a voice up come behind me then Alex's head next to mine as he gave me a short yet passionate kiss. "And you" he said his voice a little less passionate and more fun this time as he climbed over the sofa and started tickling Elise-May. As she ran away screaming and left the room. I turned to Alex
"Thank you" I whispered leaning in for another kiss
"What for?" he asked leaning in towards me to fill the space between us
in between kissed I answered him saying "Everything"
