Eyelashes Falling Out?
There are several factors that can weaken the eyelashes and cause loss of these curved hair.

Nutritional Deficiency
People having a diet that is lacking in vitamins, are bound to experience loss of eyelashes. Today, fast foods are a rage, but unfortunately they are deficient in essential nutrients. Instead, one should prefer healthy foods such as green leafy vegetables to ensure thick eyelashes.
Allergic Reaction
Frequent use of cosmetic products for eyelash and eye makeup, can also trigger an allergic reaction, which may cause abnormal falling of eyelashes. There are cosmetics that contain harsh chemicals and can produce damaging effects to the eyelashes. Hence, one should be very careful in selecting the right product. Yes, women do like to use cosmetics to enhance their facial appearance, but that doesn't mean one should use these products every now and then. It is observed that, women like to wear a eye makeup that thickens eyelashes. Frequent or heavy eye makeup, increases the chances of eyelashes dropping out. Although, use of eyeliners and eye curler is quite popular, but one should think twice before applying these cosmetics.
Frequent Eye Rubbing
Occasionally rubbing the eyes is understandable, but many people have the habit of rubbing the eye frequently, that causes a negative impact on the eyelash follicles. Studies reveal that eyelashes are subjected to excessive pressure, which may cause breakage and thinning of eyelashes.
Eyelid Infections
An eyelid infection can also bring premature loss of eyelashes. For instance, eyelid problems such as styes and blepharitis trigger itchy sensation and cause inflammation and formation of lumps on the eye lids. Styes is basically the infection of the eyelashes, which can lead to thinning and breaking of eyelashes. Staph infection of the eye which is the result of bacterial invasion (staphylococcus aureus), causes redness of eyelid and triggers formation of honey colored flakes on the eyelashes. This can make the eyelashes brittle and dry.
Thyroid Problem
The term 'thyroid' refers to the gland that is found in the neck. The thyroid is involved in the production of hormones, which ensure normal metabolic rate and blood calcium levels. However, a condition known as hypothyroidism occurs when the thyroid glands lose their ability to produce hormones in sufficient amounts. This hormonal imbalance can negatively affect the structure of hair, more specifically the eyelashes.
Medications
Certain drugs are notorious for causing eyelash problems. Falling of eyelashes in clusters is commonly seen in patients undergoing chemotherapy. Although chemotherapy drugs are helpful to kill cancer cells, the side effects of these drugs may bring loss of hair and eyelashes.
Proper eyelashes care involves, having a nutritious diet and less use of eye makeup, which would promote regrowth of hair. There are certain products that have been specifically formulated to regrow and strengthen weak eyelashes. These products are known as 'eyelash accelerator'. It is a concentrated fluid made up of multi-proteins and when applied externally, helps to bring back the lost thickness of eyelashes. However, make sure that these products do not enter the eyes, as it can cause irritation. Also, eyelash accelerator should not be used on an infected eye, as it can aggravate the infection.
