- Use a clean make-up brush to get rid of any traces of face powder, you could also use a damp cotton ball to wipe the brow area.
- Sharpen the pencil but make sure it is slightly rounded and not pointy. You could pinch the tip with your thumb and index finger to get a rounded tip.
- Place the pencil over the eyebrow in a vertical direction and take it the inner corner of the eyebrow.
- Take the pencil and apply it gently, starting from the inner corner to the arch. Applying too much pressure will result in an unnatural look, so make sure you are using soft strokes to fill in the eyebrows.
- The underside of the brow needs to be a little more defined, so you need to apply some pressure.
- Look into the mirror and if you spot any hair outside the defined eyebrow, use the tweezers to get rid of them.
- If you don't wish to use the tweezers, you could use a brow gel or smear a hair spray on a soft brush and gently run it over your eyebrow to hold such hair in place.
- Take your brow brush and brush into the arch in order to groom your eyebrow to create a soft and natural look.
- Remove excess powder and check the shape of your brows.
- All your efforts will go down the drain if you make a mistake in the selection of the shade. Applying a wrong shade can make your eyebrows look very unnatural. Make sure that the shade goes well with your hair color as well. If you think you have found a shade which matches your requirement, apply a small amount at the back of your hand, this will tell you how the shade will actually look on you.
- Don't use a sharpener to sharpen the pencil before every application, you could get a rounded tip by pinching the tip using your index finger and thumb, but make sure your hands are clean.
- The tip of the pencil must be clean and dry. Before every application, use a clean tissue to wipe the tip. This way you can get a clean and blunted tip which is required for achieving the soft and natural look.
- The quality and the texture of the pencil is very important. It will be very difficult to get the desired effect with a very soft or a very hard eyebrow pencil.
- It is very important to get the perfect strokes. Putting too much pressure might give you a very unnatural look.
- You must never apply the pencil directly to your skin, use it to fill in thin areas of your eyebrow.
