Eye Wrinkles: What Causes Wrinkles Around Your Eyes?

Have you ever wondered what causes those wrinkles around your eyes? Then find out here in this article.
Isn’t it a surprise how much attention a small area can bring and have so many wrinkles? Eye wrinkles come in two different types. The ones that you see under your eyes and the ones around your eyes, better known as crows feet. So what caused these wrinkles around your eyes? It’s a good thing you asked!

There are many reasons for these wrinkles developing and surprisingly many of them are developing without you seeing them. This is why it’s best to start preventing them right away so you should plan early.

The largest contributor to those eye wrinkles is the sun. This isn’t actually avoidable because it’s when you’re young that you aren’t aware how you’ll develop wrinkles from the sun, therefore you don’t prevent it. No matter your age you can start using sun block to keep anymore wrinkles from developing and stop your current wrinkles from becoming worse.

When the sun is out and you aren’t wearing sunglasses, chances are you’re squinting. Squinting causes wrinkles around your eyes. Remember to wear yours so you can prevent this. If you squint because of your vision you will still develop wrinkles to take proper action to stop squinting.

If your skin isn’t fully hydrated it can develop wrinkles also. Consider using a wrinkle cream containing antioxidants and if you’re able, start doing so while in your 20’s. You can never start prevention too early.

Surprisingly enough stress can also contribute to eye wrinkles. Your stress may be the result of smoking, lack of sleep or minimal sleep, or just from having a hectic lifestyle, among other causes. You may not realize it but we squint and rub our eyes when we’re stressed out. By learning how to reduce your stress you can decrease those eye wrinkles also. It is never too late. Also make sure to take notice if you start to squint or rub your eyes and stop yourself!

Your diet also plays a part in eye wrinkles. Studies have actually shown and confirmed that while too much sugar is unhealthy for your waistline, it will also leave your skin wrinkled and dull. This is because sugar will damage your collagen, which is essential, if you want to decrease or eliminate your eye wrinkles.

Just because sugar is unhealthy for your skin that doesn’t mean it’s your skin’s only enemy. If you eat a lot of fast food or processed foods your skin lacks the nutrients it needs like the ones in fresh vegetables and fruits. Fresh vegetables and fruits provide the needed antioxidants, which aren’t found in fast or processed foods. The antioxidants help neutralize the free radicals therefore decreasing the wrinkles found both around your eyes as well as your entire face.

And let’s not leave out the whole aging process, which also contributes to laugh lines and crow’s feet. As we get older our skin becomes less firm and our collagen becomes loose. You can help keep your skin on your face as well as the eye area firm by using a quality eye cream.

Eye wrinkles don’t have to be the result of aging. In order to reduce the wrinkles you need to take the first step of taking good care of your skin. Now that you are aware what is causing the wrinkles you can start reducing them right away.
