Eye Makeup for Women Over 50
Choosing the right eye makeup is the key to looking good for both young and mature women. However, as a woman ages, changes should be made in the selection and application of eye makeup.

How to Apply Eye Makeup for Mature Women
As mentioned earlier, too much eye makeup should be avoided by mature women. If in your 20s and 30s you had applied dark-colored eye liners and psychedelic colored eye shadows then it is time to put a stop to it now. Dark-colored eye shadows do nothing to enhance your eyes and on the contrary it gives your eyes a tired and droopy look. You also need to understand that psychedelic colors are best left to young women who can carry them off as they are not age appropriate older women. As the skin starts aging from early 30s onwards, there is a gradual loss of elasticity of the skin. This results in wrinkles, fine lines and saggy skin. Although anti aging creams and lotions can delay these signs of aging, still some of these problems appear by the time a woman hits her 50s. The most notable skin aging signs are crows feet around the eyes and sagging skin under the eyes. If the right makeup for eyes are not selected, eye makeup products can draw attention to these flaws and give away your age.
- Before using any eye makeup it is essential that you prep your eyes by using a good eye primer. Applying a good quality eye primer will help eye makeup glide effortlessly on the skin and prevent it from settling on the fine lines and wrinkles.
- Use light-colored eye shadows with a subtle shimmer or pearl finish or satin finish. These type of light hued eye shadows help to open up the eyes and give you a wide-eyed look.
- Due to the skin losing it elasticity, the skin around the eyes start to sag, resulting in droopy eyes. The best way to camouflage droopy eyes is to apply a smidgen of highlighter on the outer corners of the eyes.
- If you have under eye bags and dark circles, then you need to apply a dab of concealer to camouflage them. For puffy eyes and dark circles use a yellow based concealer on the skin under the eyes. Make sure that you dab the concealer and not rub it in. Once you are done, apply a bit of translucent powder to set it.
- Liquid eyeliner is a better option for mature women than pencil liners. Precisely applying a thin line of liquid eyeliner very near the lash line will help to open up the eyes and make them appear larger.
- To open up the eyes, a good mascara is a must. It is one of the most effective eye makeup for women over 50. First you need to use an eyelash curler to curl your lashes and then swipe two coats of a lengthening and volumizing mascara. Since women in their 50s usually have thin eyelashes, a volumizing mascara will help in making eyelashes look more voluminous and thick.
