Eye Makeup for Beautiful Windows to the Soul

Eye makeup is definitely the most complicated of all makeup. If the eyes are the windows to the soul, eye makeup is the window dressing, with eye liner creating the window frames, mascara the curtains etc.

Many women choose to use only little, if any, eye makeup just because they feel that it is too time consuming or complicated. It is a shame not to take advantage of this tool available to us women for drawing attention to our eyes.

Here are some easy to follow steps for applying eye makeup :

A good foundation for eye makeup is the eye shadow primer. Any makeup applied over eye shadow primer will stay put longer. Also using eye shadow primer as foundation will prevent creases and cracks.

Using eye makeup is a great way to make small eyes appear bigger. For such an effect apply a light color of eye shadow on the skin bellow the eye brow, a darker color for the eye lid itself and an in between color for other areas. Make sure to blend the colors in together, you can do this by tapping gently with a finger or a q-tip.

Go for the non-artificial look that compliments your eyes and does not compete with them. However, do not hesitate to experiment with more dramatic looks at suitable occasions such as night time parties.

Eye liner is easy to use either in pencil or liquid form. When using a pencil try heating the tip a bit (a hair blow drier will do nicely for this) before using it, this will make it easier to smear. The trick to applying eye liner is a steady hand so lean you elbow on your dresser or at least on your thigh.

Apply mascara only to the tips of the eye lashes for your regular look. When going for a more glamorous one use an eye lash curler on your eye lashes first and then apply mascara from base to tip of lashes. Use good quality mascara or you may end up with globs and such.

Develop a regular look that you are happy with and continue to wear your eye makeup this way daily. Doing this will let you become confident and experienced, then you will find it easy to vary and experiment with different looks.
