Exotic Pets List

Referring to an exotic pets list can simplify your task of selecting a pet for your family. Read on, to know more about exotic animals and pets.
Although dogs head the list of pets in demand and are considered as the best friend of man, some individuals are not satisfied with it. They are eager to know about exotic animals and pets to keep which no ordinary man would think of or want to be saddled with. For these individuals, exotic pets list provides ample clues about the types of exotic pets they can choose from and the pet care they would be called up to lavish. The following paragraphs give information on exotic pets.

Exotic Animals

White Lion
Surprised? Nature is as responsible for this animal as it is for the existence of the white Bengal tigers. Because of some quirk of the nature while mixing the genes and activation of a recessive gene, this lion has lost his camouflage that the evolution has bestowed on it. For me White lions are on the top of the best exotic pets available. According to some sources, this is the costliest exotic animal on the earth, at present.

Hyacinth macaw
Next in line in my list is a small exotic pet when compared to the White Lion. Hyacinth macaw is a bird (native of the South America) that weighs close to 4 pounds and has wing span of 4 foot. If you came upon it in the wild you cannot miss it because of its characteristic India blue color. The beak of this bird is strong enough to make a mockery of the bars of most cages by bending them. In its natural habitat, this bird eats the nuts of acuri palm trees, only after, it has passed through the digestive tract of other acuri favoring animals.

Sugar Glider
Sugar glider is a little marsupial from northeast Australia. This popular pet is one of the small exotic pets one can have. It is nocturnal and social, and demands attention at night. For this reason, one must buy a pair of them so that it has a friend to be with unless you're ready to give up your sleep and give it company. When compared to the White lion, which when fully grown can weigh almost 500 pounds, this tiny exotic pet weighs only five ounces. Vets and nutritionists, in spite of their differences over the diet for Sugar Glider have agreed that protein, insects and various minerals and vitamins are essential for these pets.

Squirrel Monkey
If you are looking for a brainy exotic pet, then you should seriously consider a Squirrel monkey as the pet for your family. This animal has the largest brain, if you go by the ratio and proportions, among primates such as man. Squirrel monkeys are native to Central and South America. Their diet includes fruits, nuts, small vertebrates and bird eggs. These animals, in the wild, try to overcome the handicap of weighing only 2.75 pounds and ward off the predators by forming a posse that can be as strong as 500 members. A Squirrel monkey as an exotic pet is very easy to form relationship with as it is intelligent, social and affectionate.

Before you go and choose an animal to be your family pet, get advice from the local authorities on whether it is legal to own it. It may save you money, heartache and getting entangled with law. Have a list of exotic names for pets ready to use, in the hope that everything related with the pet adoption will go smoothly, and you will be a proud (exotic!) owner of your pet.
