Exile of the Order Ch. 1 - The Black Forest
I'm still working on this book so I can have it published when it is done.
It's cold here, in the dark of the Black Forest. I can't start a fire or they will find me. I am Velmar an exile from the Great Vampire Order. I was exiled because I saved a human female from them. Mindless brutes are what they are, an empty shell of what they once called an empire. I talk of werewolves, mindless animals that don't understand the chaos and destruction that follows them. Unlike us they kill for fun, whereas we only take what they need to survive.
Anyway I have to find some sort of shelter before dawn or the sun will kill me. There is a cave high in a mountain but my wings are tired from my flight and will not support me long enough to make it. I guess I'm walking. I checked my provisions and figured I had enough food for three days of traveling. It would take three just to reach the base and maybe three hours to climb without stopping to rest. So I'll need to find food on the way.
I found a well-traveled path which meant people and where there are people there will be food. I followed the path and it led too a small farm. I killed three lambs, ate my fill, and stored the rest in my bag. Without me knowing the farmer sneaked up on me and stabbed my leg with his pitch fork. Without even thinking I slashed with my blade killing the man instantly. Feeling upset I buried him and left for the mountain hiding under large rocks and trees to keep out of the sun on the way. I climbed the mountain and got inside just as the sun climbed above the peak of the mountain.
