Dull and flaky skin is not a wonderful sight to look at. With an exfoliating scrub homemade, you can get rid of the dead cells, that are clogging the topmost layer of the skin and expose youthful skin.

Oats, Basil Oil Exfoliating Scrub
For this exfoliating scrub, you will require raw oats, about 2 to 3 teaspoons honey, basil oil and apple cider vinegar. Grind the oats in a grinder or you can choose to crush them with your hand. Now mix oats with honey and apple cider vinegar to form a smooth paste. After the paste is formed, add basil oil to the paste. If basil oil irritates your skin, you can choose to use tea tree oil instead of basil oil. Tea tree oil will help in the healing process. Wash your face before you apply this exfoliating scrub. Apply the scrub in a gentle circular motion and leave it on for about 15 minutes. Wash it with water while still gently scrubbing your face. The results of this scrub are excellent. Oatmeal, Cornmeal, Wheatgerm Exfoliating Scrub
Like the name suggests, you will require oatmeal, cornmeal and wheatgerm for this scrub. Mix all three of them in equal quantities, in a bowl. I had mixed two teaspoons of each of them. The quantity might seem less, but the quantity of all three of them together is sufficient to make a scrub for one time use. To make a paste, add water in sufficient quantity. Apply the paste on your face and wash it after 10 to 12 minutes, with cold water. See the astonishing results of this scrub for yourself. This can also become an excellent homemade exfoliating body scrub. If you want to use it as body scrub, you may need to take two tablespoons each of oatmeal, cornmeal and wheatgerm, or maybe even more of them.
Table Salt, Olive Oil Exfoliating Scrub
This is a very simple recipe of exfoliating scrub, which will also give you the spa treatment effect. Take some table salt in a container. Add olive oil to it, so that you soak the salt. Stir to mix this mixture thoroughly. You can use this for both, the body and the face. Gently rub the mixture on your face and all over your body, and rinse it off with cold water after 10 minutes. Make sure you scrub it gently, as salt can be abrasive to sensitive skin.
Sugar, Olive Oil Exfoliating Scrub
This homemade exfoliating sugar scrub is easy to make. Mix olive oil with sugar to form a thick paste. Gently scrub the parts of your body you want to scrub and remember to avoid your eyes. This scrub also has good effect on body parts, like arms, legs, elbows and feet.
Olive Oil, Coffee Ground Exfoliating Scrub
You can make of use coffee ground for this exfoliating scrub. This homemade exfoliating scrub requires you to mix the coffee ground with olive oil, so as to form a mixture. You can use this exfoliating scrub on your face, twice a week.
Baking Soda Exfoliating Scrub
Not many are aware, that baking soda can be used to make an excellent exfoliating scrub. Mix baking soda with water to form a thick consistent paste. Apply it on your face, leave for about 10 minutes and then wash with cold water and pat dry.
Fullers Earth, Orange Peel Exfoliating Scrub
Take ¼ cup of fullers earth, ¼ cup dried orange peel and two tablespoons of oatmeal. Mix all three of them and add water to it. Mix well till a fine paste is formed. Apply it gently on your face and neck, in circular motion. Take extra care when you are scrubbing the chin and nose, as these are the areas that accumulate the maximum number of dead cells.
Fullers Earth, Sandalwood, Chickpea Powder Exfoliating Scrub
You can make a scrub for ready use. Mix fullers earth, sandalwood and chickpea powder in equal quantities. You will need to store this scrub in an air tight container. Whenever you want to use it, take 1 to 1½ teaspoon of the scrub and mix it with water. Apply on your face in a circular motion and wash after 10 minutes.
All of these homemade exfoliating scrubs are gentle on the skin. Cost is a big advantage when choosing homemade exfoliating scrubs over commercially available exfoliating scrubs. Homemade exfoliating scrubs however, should not be used if you are allergic to any of the ingredients used in them.
