So, all these benefits together help to regenerate the skin. By now, you must be keen to know how to exfoliate skin at home? Well, here are some body scrub recipes for skin exfoliation at home.
Best Scrubs to Exfoliate Skin at Home
Sugar Scrub
Sugar, readily available in your kitchen, makes one of the best scrubs to exfoliate skin at home. The fine grains of sugar make gentle and an effective exfoliant. The ingredients you require are 1 cup granulated sugar and 1/2 cup almond oil or olive oil. Mix the ingredients thoroughly. You can also add 10 to 15 drops of essential oil for fragrance, if you want. Wet your skin and apply this mixture over the skin with hands, washcloth, bath glove or loofah sponge. You must gently rub it over the skin in a circular manner. Concentrate on one part at a time. Like first rub it over your facial skin, then hands and so on. Be very gentle on the facial skin. Once you have finished scrubbing whole body, rinse it well with warm water. You can apply an antiseptic or toner over the skin to close the skin pores.
Salt Scrub
Like the sugar scrub, salt scrubs are also amongst the best ways to exfoliate skin at home. But remember that you should not use one on your face. Take ½ cup salt (sea salt is best), ½ cup almond oil or olive oil and 10-15 drops of essential oil if desired. Mix the ingredients properly, until well blended. Apply this over your body, except facial skin in directions as mentioned above. Remember, sea salt or table salt can sting, if it gets into an open cut or wound. So, avoid using it, in such a case.
Baking Soda Scrub
Baking soda makes a good scrub recipe. Mix baking soda with enough aloe vera juice or gel to form a paste. You can use bottled, fresh aloe vera; both work well. Apply this on your body in a circular motion to exfoliate your skin. You can also make a scrub by mixing baking soda with your face lotion or cleanser and use it for effective exfoliation. These are two best scrubs to exfoliate facial skin at home. More on facial skin care.
Avocado and Cucumber Scrub
If you have extremely dry skin, due to which you don't opt for scrubs, then here's a best way to exfoliate skin at home without making it dry. Take half avocado, remove the seeds and all of the skin and mash it with a spoon, until it becomes a smooth texture with very few lumps. Now, take 2 inches of cucumber in a bowl. Remove the skin and cut into very small pieces. Add mashed avocado, 1 tablespoon of white sugar and 1 tablespoon of honey to the cucumber pieces. While mixing all these ingredients, keep adding a few drops of olive oil. Add oil, till consistency of all of the ingredients starts to smooth out. Remember not to add too much olive oil, as you need a paste-like consistency. Applying this scrub, exfoliate your body as mentioned above. After you have finished exfoliating, leave the scrub on for 10 to 15 minutes and then rinse off using warm water. This scrub is so moisturizing that it may be a little difficult to remove, but refrain from using soap.
After Exfoliating Skin at Home
After you rinse off the scrub, do not use soap. Clean it thoroughly with cold or warm water, not hot water. Pat dry your skin with towel, do not rub. Apply a toner or antiseptic lotion to close the pores. Apply a face moisturizer over your exfoliated skin to retain the moisture. You must exfoliate your skin once a week.
Exfoliating skin at home is not at all a difficult task and you must add it to your skin care regime. You can try the above recipes to exfoliate skin at home and decide which one works the best for your skin type. You can continue to use that scrub regularly and it will definitely make your skin healthy looking. So, exfoliate regularly and have a great looking skin!
