Excessive Tiredness

Early morning when you wake up and look in the mirror, you feel like you are looking at someone who is prematurely old, unhealthy and exhausted. This is when tiredness takes a toll on you and your body.
Feeling tired and weary? Don't know what to do? Well, perhaps you're going through bouts of excessive tiredness. This makes a person look dull, unenthusiastic and seriously lost! But is not only in the appearance though. One should take immediate precautions to avoid it.

Causes for Tiredness

The main causes are health conditions, mental issues, lack of sleep, having an unhealthy lifestyle, etc. Let us take a closer look at these causes.

Health Conditions
Some health conditions like anemia, heart problems and hyperthyroidism are some of the conditions that can cause immense tiredness. If you have symptoms such as loss of appetite, blurry vision, headaches and hallucinations, you should always consult a doctor. Sometimes tiredness can be one of the side effects of medications, for example sleeping pills or antidepressants.

Lack of Sleep
It is said that our body needs at least 7 to 8 hours of quiet sleep, which helps to increase the energy levels. Sleeping late and getting up early is a vicious cycle that our body is not familiar with. This results in tiredness. Most of the people consider the quantity of sleep, that is 7 to 8 hours as mentioned above, and not the quality, that is, a peaceful sleep. Imagine you are sleeping and all you can hear is someone working with a hammer, or playing loud music, or laughing out loud during late hours of the night. This disturbs your sleep and the next day is sure to be very tiring.

Unhealthy Lifestyle
Unhealthy habits lead to unhealthy lifestyles. This statement is very true because poor nutrition, less physical activity, other bad habits such as smoking and drinking alcohol are very much responsible for lowering energy levels either directly or indirectly. This is also one of the reasons which might affect your sleep. Stress might also be one of the main reasons behind feeling exhausted. When a person has a lot stress on the mind, energy levels are lowered. Many people think that consuming alcohol relieves stress but is so not true. Alcohol actually lowers the energy levels in the body making it feel more stressed out and harming the body even more.

Exertion
Exerting our body to a limit is okay. This involves physical as well as mental exertion. But overexertion might cause tiredness and fatigue. One should not over exert oneself while exercising, or during work. Stress also causes exertion and hence it is always good to keep the stress levels to normal.

Tiredness in Children

Many of us might think that children are very active and mostly, they are not the sufferers of tiredness or stress. Well, they actually are. Mostly, the reason is, irresponsible parents! This so happens when children do not follow a proper diet or if they have a very hectic schedule. Children who are into sports feel stressed out after long practice sessions or matches, thus leading to a lot of tiredness. Consumption of citric fruit juices after hectic practices of matches can help relieve tiredness in children. Energy drinks available in the market that contain glucose can also help as sipping on them raises the energy levels in the body.

How to Treat Tiredness

Sleep Well
Get enough sleep every night. Do not exert by keeping yourself up late in the night. Getting a high quality sleep is really very important, so get into bed when your body tells you to. Try to find out if you are suffering from sleep apnea. Stick to a steady schedule of sleep. If you sleep early, wake up early. Avoid straining the eyes by staying up late and watching the idiot box. Expose your eyes to the early sun.

Good Health Conditions
You are what you eat! Eating plays a very important role in all our lives. So eating healthy is helpful in preventing bad health conditions. If you want your health to be good, it is necessary to have a good lifestyle too.

Healthy Lifestyle
Avoid consumption of caffeine, alcohol, or foods that are high in sugar before going to bed. It is a fact that your last cup of coffee should be 6 hours before bedtime. Include fruits and vegetables in your diet which will increase your resistance power and won't make you feel much tired.

Exercise
Last but not the least, it is necessary that your body sweats out at least thrice a week. A one hour workout will make you feel fresh and it will wipe off your fatigue.

These were some of the causes and a few treatments for excessive tiredness. Always consult a doctor if you are feeling tired all the time and/or the tiredness is making you feel restless throughout the day. Stay healthy and stay away from health problems. Take care!
