Everyday Superfoods

Superfoods; a group of foods that have been deemed to have incredibly healthful qualities. Most of us may think that superfoods should be expensive, exotic and difficult to come by. However, this is just not so. You probably have some superfoods sitting in your kitchen right now.
There are so many weird and foreign superfoods which you can order on the internet or buy in a large health food store.
They may be quite intimidating for your average person who hasn't even heard of these things before.
Which one to start with?
How much is necessary?
Can it be trusted?
What IS it?

Well, I do not say that these foods will not benefit you. Goji berries, aloe vera juice, spirulina and royal jelly are incredibly good for the body, but why jump in at the deep end?
If you are feeling flustered with the idea of trying all these things, then please, just start in your local market.
A superfood doesn't have to be mysterious to be 'Super'. (Though it does help it to sell better!)

Starting with a little creature which we all know about, we have:

Garlic

Garlic has been used as an all-round magical cure for centuries.
Four grave robbers during the plaque were reportedly immune from the disease by literally living, eating and breathing garlic.
It is antibacterial and anti-fungal.
Just a few cloves of raw garlic a day will help your body fight against the dreaded, and very common, overrun of candida within our bodies.

Avocado

The deliciously creamy avocado has a very high quantity of 'healthy' fats. Not all fats our bad for us, remember. Avocado, chopped into a salad, actually increases the absorbance of carotenoids from the other vegetables. That is to say, aside from the abundance of vitamins and minerals which it itself contains, the avocado will increase the healthfulness of a salad by making the nutrients in the other vegetables better absorb into the body.

Lemon
The humble lemon is incredibly alkalizing. Although it is an acidic fruit, with the body it creates an alkaline environment. Candida and infections cannot live in an alkaline body and so this condition is what we should strive for.
Lemons also contain huge amounts of vitamin C, which is an antioxidant. Antioxidants fight the free radicals within the body, hence making the body more immune to disease.

Sprouts

Okay, so you may not have sprouts sitting in your fridge or on your window sill. But the makings of sprouts, everybody has. Have untoasted almonds? How about raw sunflower or sesame seeds? Lentils, chickpeas or other beans? Put them in water, allow them to soak for 12 hours, and drain. Leave in a place which is not too cold, not too hot and preferably covered. A glass jar is ideal.
In two days time you will have fresh, delicious sprouts ready to be eaten. Sprinkle on salads, make raw humus, or eat as they are as a snack. Sprouts are exceptionally high in nutrients and are also very alkalizing.

So, there you go.
Start with these four easy to find superfoods.
If you make no other change in your diet, even these four foods, consumed regularly in their raw form, will improve your health immensely.
Next, just edge out the fried foods and refined flour, increase your raw intake, and maybe, just maybe, delve deeper into the world of the superfoods.
