Every Girl's Dream - A Fairy Tale Wedding

A Fairy Tale Wedding is the stuff magic is made of. As little girls we dream of the day we can be a princess. Every one wants to marry their Prince Charming in an elegant fantasy wedding.
Every little girl dreams of her wedding day, when she is a princess for a day in a beautiful white gown, walking on rose petals and dancing with her prince charming. We all know the tale of Cinderella, who danced at the ball with a handsome prince, then lost her slipper. The Prince later finds her by going door to door to find the beautiful girl who fit the shoe. It shows how dreams do come true and how every girl wants to be rescued.

A fairy tale wedding is steeped with tradition and is a complete fantasy, with romance and beauty. The wedding dress is typically something out of a turn of the century gown, feminine, flowing and graceful. The gown transforms the bride into the princess she always wanted to be. She needs only to try the dress on to know it’s the one she always dreamed of. Her neck is adorned in pearls, her hair in big flowing curls, she may wear long white gloves and her makeup delicate.

A storybook wedding can include a horse drawn carriage to deliver the bride to the church or temple. The groom and groomsmen in long tail tux coats and top hats, line the church aisle as the bride makes her walk, under her veil.

The fantasy is complete when the bride has her first dance with her handsome groom, surrounded by loved ones. As her groom twirls her, she is transported to another world, one that she always imagined. Today is her special day to celebrate the love between her and her new husband.

Most storybook weddings stick to tradition such as the bride and groom cutting the cake and feeding each other the first piece, the groom removing the garter from her leg and throwing it to a lucky male guest, the bride throwing her bouquet over her shoulder to a group of single female guests who hope to be next to be married. The lucky girl who catches the bouquet is said to be the next bride. The male who caught the garter, then places the garter on the leg of the bouquet catcher.

Depending on the culture and religion of the couple, certain traditions take precedent over others. At a Jewish wedding, the bride and groom are hoisted in a chair by the male guests and held overhead while everyone dances. Every culture has their own traditions that make a wedding special.

Wedding favors typically stick with the tradition of five sugar coated almonds placed in an elegant box or lacy pouch. These favors are placed next to each dinner setting for each and every guest attending the wedding.
