Ever Considered an Online Personal Trainer?
Having a personal trainer to get you back in shape is a great investment. After all, what is more important than your health? Many times people join gyms and change their diet with the intention of getting in shape. They go to the gym several times a week and after a few weeks become discouraged, unmotivated or bored with the whole process. They may not know how to properly and safely exercise or which exercise to complete to successfully accomplish their goals. They trot from machine to machine haphazardly doing several exercises. They have no plan to accomplish their goals.

A "good" personal trainer plans, encourages, motivates and teaches proper and safe exercise and diet techniques to accomplish the client goals. The personal trainer continuously ensures that the client gets the work done during every session and monitors the client’s diet. During each workout session, the personal trainer will constantly motivate the client to keep going even when the client wants to give up.

Unfortunately, some people don’t have access or resources to a personal trainer. Some people with their varied schedule find it very difficult to schedule set times to meet with a personal trainer. Some people are constantly on the road traveling for their jobs so this makes it impossible to have a personal trainer. This is when an online personal trainer makes sense.

An online personal trainer can accomplish many of the things an "in-person" personal trainer can accomplish. Online personal trainers can:

* Customize a diet and exercise plan via feedback given by the client usually by an online questionnaire.
* Create a written detailed plan of:
o How much to exercise (reps, weight, time, proper technique, safety)
o What to exercise (arms, legs, abs, back cardio)
o When to exercise (calendar, schedule).
o What to eat (food choice, serving size, calories)
o Exercise based on equipment available to the client (local gym, home gym)
* Continuously review the clients exercise and diet performance via the client’s submitted online results
* Continuously adjust the exercise plan as the client improves. (May increase / decrease or change type of exercise, exercise weights, reps, times)
* Review uploaded pictures at various stages to see the condition and improvement of the client.
* Continuously communicate with the client to answer any comments, questions, or concerns the client may have, usually by e-mail
* Help motivate the client; if the client isn’t getting the work done or loses motivation

The main disadvantage with an online personal trainer is that the client will not have the "in-person one-on-one time". An online personal trainer cannot see the client’s mood or behavior when working out and can’t ensure the client is completing the exercises properly and safely. Additionally, quick response to questions can’t be given by an online personal trainer.

Well how do you find a good online personal trainer? The same things should be considered when searching for an "in-person" personal trainer. You can read "How to Find a Good Personal Trainer" which we posted earlier.
