Kingdom Eubacteria Examples

Bacillus anthracis
These eubacteria have a length of 3-5 micrometers, while the width is 1-1.2 micrometers. It is a Gram-positive bacteria which possesses a rod shape. Casimir Davaine and Aloys Pollender are credited for the discovery of Bacillus antracis. These bacteria are known for synthesizing D-glutamate, a protein capsule. It is the only examples of eubacterium capable of producing this protein capsule. In laboratories, the Bacillus anthracis grows in both aerobic and anaerobic environmental conditions. Origin of the name (anthracis) of this bacteria can be traced back to the Greek word, anthrakis. Meaning of the word anthrakis is coal. Black colored skin lesions caused by the infection of these bacteria is probably the reason behind using the word, anthrakis.
Escherichia coli
Named after Theodor Escherichia, the Escherichia coli is a Gram negative bacteria which possesses a rod shape. The Escherichia coli O157:H7 is responsible for causing problems like food poisoning in human beings. These bacteria are otherwise not harmful and do not cause any health problems even after being ingested. The growth of Escherichia coli bacteria takes place in lower intestines of endotherms i.e. warm blooded organisms. The helpful bacteria that are found in the gut of these warm-blooded animals help in obtaining vitamin K2. The beneficial bacteria also help in removing the pathogenic ones from the body. The E.coli virulent strains are responsible for urinary tract infections, gastroenteritis and neonatal meningitis. Beneficial E.coli strains on the other hand are used as probiotic agents for medicinal purpose.
Clostridium perfringens
This Gram positive bacteria forms spores and is rod shaped. The Clostridium perfringens is found in marine sediments, places of decaying vegetation, etc. This eubacteria may or may not be pathogenic. The infection of these bacteria results into health problems only in few cases. Otherwise, the ingestion of these bacteria is not at all harmful. The infection of this bacteria can be observed in the form of diseases/conditions like necrosis, gas gangrene, emphysematous cholecystitis, bacteremia, etc. Colonies of E.coli bacteria that are raised on agar plates exhibit rough and irregular margins.
Clostridium tetani
These bacteria are Gram positive and anaerobic in nature. The Clostridium tetani possesses a rod shape and their gram stain appearance resembles the shape of drumsticks. Production of tetanospasmin, a biological toxin is the characteristic feature of these bacteria. These bacteria cannot survive in the presence of oxygen during the phase of vegetative growth. Locomotion takes place by means of flagella. The Clostridium tetani is sensitive to heat. A cut in skin/wound is used by this pathogenic bacteria to enter the body of the host. This organism multiplies after entering the host body. Along with tetanospasmin, another exotoxin called tetanolysin is produced by these bacteria.
The eubacteria form an important section of the different microbes found in nature. Most of these bacteria are pathogenic. However, there are few eubacteria which also benefit the host organism.
